Understanding Our Waitlist
We often receive messages asking, “Where am I on the waitlist?” "When will I get a kitten? "
While we understand why people want to know, our waitlist is not a straightforward numbered list where being #7 means you will receive the 7th kitten born.
Each person on our waitlist has different preferences, including:
• Gender (male, female, or either or one of each)
• Colour
• Whether they are flexible or only interested in a specific combination
Because of this, every person’s position is different depending on the kitten they are waiting for.
An Example
Imagine you are 6th on our overall waitlist and hoping for a Chocolate male.
A litter of 6 kittens is born, but only one is a Chocolate male. If three families ahead of you are also waiting specifically for a Chocolate, that kitten would be offered to them first.
In that situation:
• You may be 6th on the overall waitlist
• 3rd in line for a Chocolate male
• 2nd in line for any male kitten
All of these positions can be true at the same time.
Why We Can’t Give an Exact Timeframe
Breeding is never predictable. While we carefully plan our breeding program, we cannot control:
• How many kittens are born
• The colours produced in each litter
• Gender ratios
• Whether kittens are suitable to be placed in pet homes
This means we cannot accurately predict when a particular colour or gender combination will become available.
Why Some Families Wait Longer Than Others
Sometimes a family who joined the waitlist later may receive a kitten sooner because they are open to a wider range of colours or genders.
Likewise, families waiting for a specific colour and gender combination may wait longer, even if they joined the list earlier.
This does not mean anyone has been skipped. It simply reflects the availability of the kittens being born.
A Note About This Year
This year has been particularly challenging, with a move to a new home and a break in breeding as a result. We know some families have been waiting much longer than expected, and we genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding.
We are just as eager as you are to see healthy litters arrive and to match our kittens with their future families.
We are hoping to see more babies on the ground in the next two months.

***Another happy owner, thankyou Jane

Hi Michele

Jayne here, I purchased Mr Rillo a silver brown gorgeous Burmese from you 3 years ago and picked him up from Melbourne airport.

I wanted to let you know he is healthy, happy and our sweetheart!

So snuggly and loving, intelligent, incredibly playful and loves to share our pillow!
I couldn't have asked for a better cat.

When we move into a bigger place id love to look into a brown Burmese if your still breeding.

I've read your post today, about what goes behind the scenes. It truely shows with Rillo and no doubt all the other fun loving cats that leave your care.

Thanks again Michele, I wouldn't go to any other breeder.

P.s he has a beautiful silver grey stripe from his head to his tail.

!!! WHAT A CAT BREEDER NEVER SAYS OUT LOUD! 🐱

🤔 Many people think that a cat breeder lives in a perfect world with their cats. But hardly anyone sees what is really behind to accompany these little miracles into life healthy and lovingly. The pictures are sweet. Reality is intense, demanding and full of responsibility.

☝ Every birth is a lottery.

You can prepare, plan and learn anything... but no birth goes like the other.

Feels like the first time every time, even after many years of experience.

😔 Death is our greatest enemy.

A cat that gets complications. A kitten that just can't make it.

It often happens unexpectedly and breaks our hearts every time.

👍 Recruiting a suitable cat costs money, time and effort.

Health tests, travel costs, cover charges, waiting times and many sleepless nights.

And then we hope that everything goes well: infections, birth problems or developmental disorders can occur at any time.

Breeding is an investment - financially, emotionally and physically.

🍼 Bottle feeding?

Cute... for the first five minutes.

After that, it often means weeks-long feeding every two to three hours – day and night.

This is no longer a hobby, this is survival mode.

🤦 Many people see kittens as "business":

"Number of kittens × price = win! “

What is often forgotten:

• Health and genetic testing

• Club and breeding costs

• High-quality nutrition

• Veterinary costs

• Vaccines, chip and pedigree

• Taxation

• Care and hygiene

• Photos, website and advertisements

• Mountains of cat litter and food

• Countless cups of coffee and too much chocolate

• And above all: sleepless nights

What's left at the end?

Rarely a gold bar.

Often not even a reasonable hourly wage.

😴 Sleepless nights are inevitable.

No weekends, no vacations, no breaks.

🤫 Who really raises the kittens?

The mother cat ... and the breeder.

Any little infection that could endanger a whole litter is feared. Many people want to come in for meet and greets. Some breeders allow this, some don’t. There is a huge risk with letting outsiders into our sterile cattery. An invisible bacteria or fungus on the bottom of a shoe, or under a finger nail can be catastrophic to a cattery. Because when one get sick or infected, you have to treat them all. Add on thousands in vet bills, disposal of all cat trees/toys, having to purchase new ones and endless hours disinfecting.
On top of that breeders have been targeted. Our homes are filled with thousands of dollars in cats. There have been horrific situations where breeders have been robbed and even murdered. We understand you’re worried about your couple hundred dollar deposit. Just know how much we risk every time someone enters our home.

Scammers: They plague us all. Breeders get scammed too, usually for much more because we pay a premium for breeding rights. They also steal our photos, use our names and good reputations to scam innocent people. Never send money without doing a live video call. Every reputable breeder can do this. Breeders also don’t harass or push you to buy their kittens. Look at backgrounds of photos. Are they taken in the same room? Do your due diligence.

Back yard breeders - The bane of every ethical breeders existence. Ethical breeders test cats before breeding, we get echocardiograms, DNA tests, PCR tests on new cats to ensure we dont bring different viruses and bacteria into our breeding population. We do not breed animals that produce genetic mutations such as curled ears, hairlessness, dwarfism, folded ears or combinations thereof to satisfy the publics appetite for the weird and wonderful. Our goal is to better our breed. Backyard breeders don’t test, lie about testing and pump out kittens back to back litters, often caging their cats, living in squalor not socializing and often plagued with illness. A “good deal” is often a VERY bad deal that may cost you so much more in vet bills and often lead to heartache. Stop supporting backyard breeders to save a little money.

😬 And the question:

"Why is the kitten so expensive?" “

If we got a dollar for every time we are asked that

Then maybe our cats would get caviar instead of just high-quality food.

The bottom line is that they are extremely expensive to breed. Good well established catteries with A+ programs charge A LOT for breeding rights. They can very easily be upwards of $10,000 for a quality cat, 30,000 for a cat imported into Australia. Add on all of the testing, scans, vet bills, high quality food, toys, litter, etc. The titles of your kittens parents take a lot if money and effort to acquire. They indicate your breeders desire and success in adhering to the breed standard. Imagine investing all that time and money and having your cat fail their echo at a year old, or as they develop they no longer meet breed standards. It happens every day. We have so much on the line with every cat we add to our programs. Sometimes they just don’t get along with your other cats. There are so many things that can railroad our plans and cost us thousands.

😵 💫 The future owners are also worrying us.

A kitten is not a commodity you just order.

It's a little creature with needs and character.

Often the color of the fur seems to be more important than the creature.

Many want a kitten IMMEDIATELY and are at the same time on waiting lists with several breeders to get their desired cat or cat as soon as possible.

Many go unprepared into the adventures of cat ownership.and the committment that entails

Some expect the kitten to immediately understand everything, behave perfectly and to do no work.

This is why we choose our families carefully.

Sometimes we choose against interested people.

Sometimes we wait longer.

Because they are our "babies" and we only want the best for them.

😔 Emotional fatigue?

You, the buyer,. rarely see these.

The pressure, the responsibility, the constant worry and the feeling that you always have to do everything right.

And sometimes the loneliness in difficult situations.

💔 Sometimes we just want to stop.

After a loss.

After a setback.

After being exhausted.

And then a kitten opens its eyes for the first time...

and it all starts again.

It's a passion that keeps you going.

🙏 We rarely talk about the grief.

Yet with every loss, a piece of our heart is lost.

It’s terrible when a kitten can’t make it.

Nevertheless, we stand up again - for the other kittens who need our care and should later find a loving home.

🥰 Yes, there are beautiful moments.

Yes the joy is huge.

But behind every responsible cat breeder, there's a path of sleepless nights, worries, tears, and emotions.

And above all:

Unconditional love for these special animals. ❤️🐾❤️🐱🐱

That's what we do it for.
