It's almost go time!

🎟️ Early Bird Tickets for Canine Masters 2026 will go on sale Tuesday, 23 June.

We’re also excited to announce that the live videos from Canine Masters 2025 will begin rolling out next week, giving you the opportunity to revisit the incredible knowledge shared by our 2025 speakers. We’ll share links as they become available.

This year we’re doing things a little differently.

Our goal is to make Canine Masters accessible to as many people as possible, which is why tickets will be available at a flat rate of just $75 per person. Your ticket includes access to all speaker presentations and the curated Canine Masters Expo.

Additional options such as show bags, catering, VIP experiences and other event extras will be released separately in the months leading up to the event, allowing you to customise your experience without increasing the cost of entry for everyone.

How fresh are Augustine Approved products?

I recently watched a video of a canine nutritionist formulate a homemade dog food recipe when he added something I wasn’t expecting: iodised salt.

Not because dogs need more sodium. Not because iodised salt is some sort of superfood. He was using it for one reason only… iodine.

That single decision sent me down a rabbit hole that ended up raising much bigger questions.

If iodine exists naturally in foods such as seafood and sea vegetables, why are we so often reaching for fortified ingredients instead? And at what point do we stop looking at foods and start looking only at nutrients?

It’s one of the most fascinating nutrition topics I’ve explored in a long time, and it completely changed the way I think about iodine, kelp, wakame and nutrition itself.

“Common” does NOT mean normal.

We have slowly been conditioned to accept things like itchy skin, gut issues, recurring ear infections, inflammation and chronic disease as if they’re just an unavoidable part of owning a dog.

But I don’t believe that.

I believe the small things we do every single day matter more than most people realise.
Diet.
Lifestyle.
Environment.
Stress.
Stimulation.
Movement.
Ingredients.

Everything adds up over time but there’s always something we can do to better support the body before things go wrong.

No dog ever chases a tennis ball without joy — and that’s exactly why this conversation matters so much.

For many dogs, the simple act of seeing a ball fly through the air lights up something deep inside them. The sprint, the chase, the proud return — these small moments are some of the happiest rituals we share with our dogs.

But sometimes the most ordinary habits can quietly carry risks we rarely stop to question.

In the final part of this four-part series, I take a closer look at the humble tennis ball and explore what many people never realise — how the felt surface, long-term chewing, swallowed fragments, and the repetitive sprint-stop pattern of fetch can influence dental health, digestion, and joints over time. It’s not about fear or blame.

No dog ever chases a ball without joy — and that’s exactly why protecting their movement matters so much. The games they love, the runs through the park, the excited sprints across the grass… all shape how comfortably their bodies will move in the years ahead.

I did a deep dive into what can be done so that you don't have to take the joy of fetch away from our dogs in order to support their physical health.

It’s about learning how to protect the happiness we share with them — by building stronger muscles, maintaining a healthy body condition, and making small adjustments that can quietly protect their joints over time.

Two Years Without Augustine

It’s strange how time works. In some ways it feels like yesterday — I can still picture her exactly as she was. The way she walked, the way she looked at me, the quiet confidence she carried everywhere she went. In other ways, it feels like a lifetime ago.

Augustine wasn’t just a dog to me. She was my companion, my teacher, and the reason Augustine Approved exists.

She was the dog who made me start asking questions - the inspiration that made me look deeper into nutrition, health, and how we care for our ourselves and our animals.

The truth is, dogs are never “just dogs.” They shape our lives in ways we often don’t fully understand until they’re gone.

Thank you, Augustine for the lessons, for the love, and for starting a journey that continues to help so many people and dogs today.

What I would give for one more snuggle. Hug your dogs, people.
