Some things never change.

Exactly 13 years ago today, I was in my kitchen trialling fresh dog food and supplements, playing with ingredients and trying to create something better.

By complete coincidence, 13 years later, today, I’m back in the kitchen doing exactly the same thing.

I guess that’s what happens when you genuinely love what you do.

We don’t release new products very often. We never have. But when we do, we like to make sure they’re worth the wait and that they make an impact.

Right now, three new products are coming together for release over the coming weeks.

I can almost guarantee you won’t guess what they are or what they do, but we can’t wait to share them with you.

We received this email from a customer today, and it really got me thinking.

How many dogs are unnecessarily placed on medications, sometimes for the rest of their lives, before the most fundamental part of their health has even been properly addressed: their diet and nutrition?

I continue to be astounded by how readily medications can become the first line of approach, despite the potential for side effects, without first asking whether the nutritional foundations are right.

To be absolutely clear, I am not claiming that our products treat, cure or manage arthritis, pain or any other disease or medical condition. Nor am I suggesting that anyone should discontinue prescribed medication without consulting their veterinarian.

What I am highlighting is something I have advocated for many years: good nutrition matters.

If the nutritional foundations aren’t right, shouldn’t we address those foundations as part of looking at the bigger picture?

I am not against medication. There are circumstances where medication is necessary, important and even lifesaving. But where medications carry the potential for serious side effects, I believe they should be used judiciously and, where appropriate, after nutrition, lifestyle and other fundamental factors have been properly considered.

16 years ago today a little boxer puppy came along and turned life upside down.

Augustine, not a day goes by that I don’t think about you, Faith and Mishka. Your legacy lives on and we continue to help improve the lives of dogs through everything you taught me.
