We released two pelicans today that we had in care almost for two weeks due to the minor injuries .

Then we noticed one he was limping and getting picked on by other pelicans, also he is a very old pelican, so we are going to nickname him Grandpa, we are going to give him the loving care he needs.

This poor darling had to come into care so we can put a paddle on his web foot as his little back toe is curving under , also has a wound to the leg due to a trauma, he is a beautiful natured pelican.

We have had this cute little black cormorant for two weeks.
Someone spotted him at Rockhampton walking along the Bruce Highway, then they took him to Tanawah Vets.
Then we got a phone call to pick him up, he is only a very young one, he needed fattening up, still doing so well he really loves his fish.
We would like to say a thank you to the person who picked him up.

Saving another pelican.

We are so glad the lady from Harvey bay gave us a call, and the wildlife group that did the transporting to Gympie for us so a big thank you again.

This is what our auntie dorrie found out what we and mum have to put up with travelling home with pelicans on board.
Poor auntie dorrie, not a princess job she said, but she loves what we do.
Auntie dorrie has been helping out too.

This afternoon we released another two pelicans at golden beach Caloundra, both were affected by fishing line and hooks, the poor big boys were in care for a while, but we didn’t mind as we wanted the best for them.

We said to them please try and keep safe without getting hooked up again.

While we were there we rescued three pelicans today , but one was released, but had to bring two back.

Our auntie dorrie couldn’t handle the regurgitation on the way home.

She said it’s not just about rescuing and rehabbing, you have to put up with this too, you have to have a strong stomach sometimes.

We got a phone call from members of the public from Harvey Bay, about a pelican that landed in someone’s backyard, we knew it was going to be a very young juvenile pelican.

So a lovely lady we know from Harvey bay passed East coast Exotic Haven number on to us , so we could contact them, they were so lovely to help.

Then we met the drivers at Gympie pond, she is only a very young pelican , her bill is only very small, she also very very under weight and full of lice.

So when we get her home tonight, we will give her fluids and some fish.

She will go into our icu room where it’s nice and warm.

Thank you all who were involved with this precious little pelican.

We just got a phone call about a pelican at Maroochydore that has a hook in his leg, but when we got there with our mum and auntie dorrie, he just paddle right around the corner to roost, but we do have a lovely man who is going to keep a eye out for him.

So the poor darling will have to wait until tomorrow, it will worry us now until tomorrow.

This beautiful black swan from Gympie pond was rescued by Janine and Lane about eight weeks ago, they noticed he was very sick, he was attacked by a dog.

So Janine drove him all the way down to us as it was very late, Janine nicknamed him cranky.

On arrival we gave him pain relief, antibiotics also gave his nasty smelly wound a good clean, it was beyond stitches, we have seen so many wounds like this many times that couldn’t be stitched up due to necrotic skin and wounds he just sat there for us.

We knew his body was fighting a huge infection as his behaviour wasn’t right, Janine said he is usually a cranky swan, that’s why his name is cranky.

It’s amazing what antibiotics and pain relief and cream can do, along with our special care as we give them that time to heal .

Janine drove down to pick him up, then released him back home so he could be released back with his partner, she was over the moon to see him again.

Now we understand why Janine nicknamed him cranky as he showed the signs of him being himself again, thank you Janine and Lane for keeping a eye out.

But look at him now after being in care for eight weeks
