Today we lost our pet bird miles, he was 30 years and 6 months old .

He left us at 2:30pm this afternoon, he fell asleep in our arms peacefully.

He gave us plenty of laughs, joy, and love, he even travelled around Australia 3 times with us.

Miles was our very first bird our mum and dad brought him home for our birthday, where has that 30 years have gone.

We love ❤️ you miles 😘 😘

This is one of the young juvenile pelican that came from up north the other day, he is doing well slowly, glad he has the encouragement to keep alive with our intensive care.

When we cleaned his portable cot we went oh no , we thought he regurgitate his fish up , but we had a closer look, it was a plastic zip bag along with other type of plastic, so glad he could regurgitate it up he must feel so much better now.

Him being so young and starving he would eat anything poor darling.

He is improving slowly and enjoying his nice proper food, been keeping all fish down, he is another one that has been anemic, dehydrated, and thin, but we are so glad he is still with us.

It’s been a very busy 5 days with all the juvenile pelicans getting themselves in trouble, we would be absolutely lost if we didn’t have help with these rescues of other groups bringing these beautiful pelicans to us to give them a second chance of life.

The lovely people from Harvey bay brought a pelican down to us after being clipped by a car as the pelican is weak, but a beautiful vet looked at him and had no fractures gladly.

The other juvenile boy he came in from William, he is such a big help to us as he has been doing our rescues for us as he knows we are very busy here giving all the weak pelicans a second chance of life.

You know what all our weak pelicans have survived so far, we give them fluids on arrival as there little kidneys would be dehydrated give them the other tending loving care as well.

We are so glad they have pulled through, the other two have been stable that have arrived as well 3 days ago.

But at the back of our minds we had a terrible night last Thursday as we almost lost our dad, had to ring ambulance , they arrived quick to pick up our dad, then mum and us went to the university Sunshine Coast hospital to go and sit beside with him.

All of our stomachs hit the ground when doctors all came and said it wasn’t looking good for him.

Mum and us sat with dad until 4:30am in the morning, he is still with us but still in hospital , having alot of test done, still not well, so its been really hard for us and the family, but dad still wants us to care for the birds as he is one of our biggest supporters, our brother jason has been doing our dads jobs for the birds.

Mum has been very busy too doing what she can do while visiting dad and listening to what doctors have to say.

WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU SUNSHINE COAST HOSPITAL FOR TAKING SO MUCH CARE OF OUR DAD , in his crucial times on Thursday night, and still very caring now.

We are all so blessed he is still with us.

Also our dad was so happy this morning when we spoke to him on the phone about the pelicans we have saved .

We have been very busy with the critical pelicans that have been coming in, but we are so happy that we have pulled them through.

This sweet pelican came from Noosa waterways, so glad a lovely lady Erica who does a lot of kayaking spotted this pelican , at first she thought she was dead, so glad she went up close to check her, as most people would think she was a dead pelican and just keep walking pass or keep kayaking, so that’s why we encourage people to walk up to them just incase that are alive just like this sweet girl, we are so blessed Erica spotted her or she would of died.

Erica phone wildlife Noosa, William didn’t hesitate to go on the rescue, then William drove down to us so we could care for her as she has botulism.

William is a kind caring person who loves all wildlife he has a heart of gold.

We have had her for 2 weeks now, but honestly it was touch and go as she was very flat and no movement, but we wanted to give her that chance, she also had a injured leg to go with it, she is more alert now, but she has been one of the worse case’s of botulism that we have had for a while.

Been eating well and preening a lot too.

This cute little cygnet came into care last Wednesday from the Australia zoo wildlife hospital.

His problem was he was weak and has mild bone metabolic disease.

At first sight of him we didn’t like the look of him , as he wasn’t doing the little chirp they should do, but glad we had the chance to care for him as he is getting stronger every day since we have had him.

We are so happy so far with his progress, then he has a revisit to the wildlife hospital for a check up in another week.

We have had this beautiful brush turkey for a few days now, William from wildlife Noosa did so well to rescue her, then he took her to the at A.E.C at Noosa.

We like to thank you all for giving this beautiful bird a second chance of life, she has been coping really well with the splint on her leg, and thank you for trusting us to care for her.

Actually she is starting to put her foot down gently ,also eating so well, she loves her fruits , beef heart, and grains, meal worms .

She will be in care for a while for her fracture to heal nicely .

This sweet little girl has beat the odds with our intensive care.

When William from wildlife Noosa dropped her off to us on the 2nd July ,we were worried for her life of survival, but we said to William we will give her all the love she needed.

When we picked her up you couldn’t feel no weight in her, so we put her on the scales she weighed 2 kilos, we didn’t think she would make it when we seen her weight, so we really wanted to help her as she was so weak , all she needed was fish ,love, and warmth to get her back on her feet.

A couple of days ago she left our icu room, now she is in the recovery ward.

Then when we know she is really strong she will then go into our flight aviary.

We are so proud that all our love and care has pulled her through.

Yesterday we received a email from a lovely lady that was so so concerned about pelicans out near Windorah.

We just can’t believe they can get all hooked up with tackle and line out so far in a remote area.

This has been worrying us a lot over night.

We hope we can talk to someone out that way how they can help them.

This beautiful Maggie Kay -Kay went home with this beautiful lady who rescued her in the first place.

Glad her eye’s wasn’t as bad as the other one that we had in care, it would have got severve if it wasn’t for coral rescuing her.

Today she went back home with coral so coral could do the honours to release her back to her territory where she will be reunited back with the family.

Do you all remember this rescue, we received a female black swan from the wildlife hospital due to line entanglement, while she was in care ,her partner was trying to look for her.

But he ended up in care due to being clipped by a car, so glad he was strong enough to survived it and not badly injured, along with the 3 cygnet’s, the reunion was beautiful when we brought him back in care with the little cygnets, it was true love.

Today we released them back after being in our care for four weeks, and two days.

The whole family were nice and healthy, no bumble foot what so ever, as swans and cygnets can get bumble foot in care if their ground isn’t well cared for.

We are so proud we did a good job caring for them all especially when the parents were very protective with the cygnets , best of all there were another pair of swans with the babies, and there were no territorial fights, so pleased it was a beautiful release.

Also to put our minds at rest, lovely ladies over that way are going to keep a good eye out for them as they know these beautiful swans.

Today another magpie came in by a lovely lady and a man name coral and gary , they absolutely love their birds.

They have named this one Kay -Kay .

Coral did so well to catch her, so glad this one isn’t as bad around the eyes like the one we just finished rehabilitating.

She won’t be in care long.

Word must be out after us caring so much for the last beautiful magpie we had in care.

We had another busy afternoon yesterday, had a phone call from a family that was so concerned about this female pelican at Donny Brook, while they were fishing.

They were kind fisherman as they were so worried for her.

Actually they nicknamed her Dee, she is one very snappy pelican.

But she felt so much better when that heavy sinker and all the tackle and line was off that wing of hers.

The poor darling has lost all her flight feathers to that wing, as it has snapped the feather folic’s .

So this female pelican will be in our care for a while, until she does a moult to regrow her feathers again in that wing.

Her other feathers were a bit damaged but not as bad, poor thing must of been struggling, out there.

Glad Matt and his son spotted her while fishing.

Dee has settled in quite well with other pelicans in our care.
