Busy day with clients panicking as Christmas Day has snuck up on them.
2 booked in, 2 fitted in and one drop in for nails clipped.
So let's look at our babies.
My Dexter boy was in for his 6week full groom. Biggest problem with return pooches is trying to trim their tails. Non stop wagging from entering till leaving. Full of love and licks and of course leaving his calling card when all males do inside at a particular corner.
😆 Nothing disinfectant spray bottle and paper wipes can't fix.

Next little Macy for a full groom. Boy did she help yelp when mum & Dad left. For 30 seconds then played with Rosie. Just like Toddlers.

Pip enjoyed her pampering session too.

Sherlock came in for a Schnauzer clip. Mum had Bern doing a great job but needed a bit more help.

Rosie's had an absolutely fantastic Birthday and thank you to everyone for Birthday wishes. Lick lick lick to you all.
This morning started off with rump steak for brekkie. New teddy with 2 squeekies in his bottom.
Then a couple of Birthday Peanut Butter & Bacon bickies before the first woofie at 9.00 a.m.
After all the woofies were gone her Bestie Gypsy surprised her turning up in her Party Dress and pressie for her. They played until dinner time which consisted of kibble & chicken. Then more play before time to go home to bed.

Today we had big woofie day.
2 absolutely beautiful dogs. I was so excited to meet my first Murray River Retriever Hugo. Oh, he was gorgeous. .
Beautiful big brown eyes lovingly looking at me. A real softie sookie boy.

He found one of Rosie's soft toys and wanted to carry it everywhere.
Of course he got a pressing to take home

Absolutely 100% co-operative until .....
Yes, BATH TIME. well my helper Alannah and myself tried chicken, biscuits, tricking him by standing away from the tub but when he go near enough to get the food we'd pounce on him. He's quick. So once we exhausted all avenues of getting him in the tub not to mention ourselves I rang his owner. Surprise, he doesn't like the tub. The last groomer had him harnessed up on a table and washed him. Must have been a wet room. Apparently Hugo loves getting up on tables. He sits on top of his kennel. I said he should be called Snoopy. So mum tried to get him in. Not having it.
In the end he scored a swim in the ocean on his way home.

2nd woof was sweet 8yr old Cleo a short haired Labrador. Apparently she didn't make the grade as a Guide Dog Trainee Pup so sold to a loving family.
What a sweet disposition and sooooooooo well behaved. Let me de-shed her. She also wanted to play with Rosie's toys which kept her occupied.
Then without a problem up the ranp and bathed.
Blow dry and home with her own pressing.

Monday is a very busy day with lots of little woofies so no doubt fun and tantrums will surface. And that's just me. LOL.
And of course Rosie's Happy 2nd Birthday as well so tomorrow afternoon I'll be baking peanut butter biscuits in dog and bone shapes for take home treats.

Anyone who has a dig and is in the area come and wish Rosie a Happy Birthday and take a couple of bickies for your baby.
Nearly midnight so time for sleep. Rosie's already snooring.

Today was an 'Up n Down' day grooming wise.

Have you ever started your day off excited then BOOM! one little thing can cause you to fail at your task?

I know Groomers out there who have decades of experience will omit telling people their ' Bad Groom Days'.
Maybe I'm silly but I am always honest and I don't pretend to be perfect every single groom. So here's my day. Don't worry, I've ordered a Pizza and will have 1 glass of wine with it. (Full day tomorrow).😀👍🍕

Yesterday's little 3mth old Laura was super sweet. One if numerous puppies I've done first grooms on.

Today it was Scooter's turn. Maltese/Sh*tzu cross.
Sweet little boy.
He had tight little knots of fur all over his body.
These breeds tend to have what I call Fairy Floss Fur. It's so fine it matt's easily. I asked if they brush him but they think they did it once.

Got his pads and nails done. No problem.
Face? No. (Managed to do this in the bath. Seems to subdue them. LOL.
Wash, condition. Dry then combing begins.
Ouch! No matter what size I used it wouldn't cut. Poor thing was getting very distressed. I started sc******ng him. Better but still matty.
After 2hrs here I rand owner and said to collect him. Even a blade cut was pulling and it was too much fir a little puppy. Poor baby.
I organised another groomer who had 2 people to clip him tomorrow. One to hold still, one to groom.
Yes I failed and I'm not proud of it but I did my best. Answering the next question of course I didn't charge him anything and yes Scooter got a Christmas Lucky Dip Present.

I guess we all have to admit there will be days we have to admit defeat.

THEN; the 'Up'
The next pair of babies 2 x Cavoodles Rosie and Pye. Mother & son which surprised me. Poor Rosie pushing 4 big bubbies out.
Full Clips for both and they were a dream to do.

Last one was little Izzi a Maltese/Sh*tzu for a fill clip. She was a lovely little girl too.
So the day ended on a good note.

I've got 3 Washer/
Dryers now and the Big Dogs are booking in again.

Tomorrow I'm excited to meet my first woof. A Murray River Retriever. Apparently they have webbed feet.

Then a Labrador.
Have a wonderful night.

Let's see today's babies.
First 2 x Groodles. Twiggy is 12yrs old and her overly energetic sister Rosie is just 1yr old.
Living in a bushy area ticks are rampant so mum ordered a complete shave. Looks terrible but she's able to keep an eye out for ticks.
Tick treatments are highly recommended for Summer.

Then 3mth old Spoodle Lara in for her first groom. She was a perfect little bubba.
Her owner fiddles with her nails to desensitise her to nail clipping. Also scissors around her eyes very carefully.
She wouldn't let me go near eyes with clippers.
So to desensitise her to clippers around I suggested her to play sounds of a clipper or an electric shaver when she scissors her face. It will help her to associate clipper sound to face grooming. Won't be 100% but helps.

Busy busy day of mixed woofs.
First up 7mth old Luna for a Hygiene Clip.
Beautiful little bundle of worms. Puppies are such contortionists. I needed another 6 arms. LOL.
We eventually got the grooming done with a lot of patience and cuddles.

Next was Connie Labradoodle. She was a delight to groom.

Last we had Nugget the Spoodle who throughout 99% of his groom was an absolute pleasure but near the end he made it very clear he wasn't going to have his moustache touched or paws.
With dad's help we managed to get most of his mouth done.

Today we had Jack the Groodle and he was 100% perfect. Big boy so had help washing/drying him.
He had so much fun playing after his Clip waiting to be picked up so played with Rosie's toys.
He's 10yrs old going onto 12 mths old. The energy he has is incredible.

2nd clip was Alfred the Schnauzer for a full Schnauzer Clip. Another 100% behaved pooch.

Problem here is he had so many knots I couldn't present him with fluffy legs, proper skirt and moustache.

He'll be back in 6 weeks so will have a chance to start the proper grooming.

More BIG Dogs tomorrow. Spoodles and throughout the week.

Having a helper certainly makes it possible to welcome back large dogs.
