The British Horse Society Changing Lives Through Horses is an alternative education programme where children and young people can learn in a safe and nurturing environment alongside highly trained coaches at Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre. We offer a safe, outdoor equestrian workspace which will help to build young people’s resilience, confidence and self-esteem whilst developing practical equestrian skills and knowledge. We believe equine facilitated learning can positively impact a young person’s life.
The Changing Lives programme at Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre aims to empower individuals who struggle with traditional mainstream education. We offer 2 programmes of regular sessions (The achiever and explorer awards), each one is designed to meet individual needs. Both programmes are aimed at young people from 5 – 25 who may be disengaged with education, not in employment or training (NEET) and / or have additional SEND that would benefit from access to an alternative provision. The framework for both programmes have been mapped to the national curriculum KS1, KS2, KS3 and core units of KS4. The main aim of the programme is to develop and support 6 key life skills: Communication, Confidence, Teamwork, Building Relationships, Perseverance, and Responsibility. We will also be integrating an accredited personal development qualification that will run alongside of our programme at Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.
