🐾 Exciting news! 🐾

I’m incredibly proud to share that I have been accepted as a member of Professional Dog Trainers Australia (PDTA).

PDTA is an association of trainers committed to ethical, educated and results-driven dog training, and I’m honoured to now be part of a community that is dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and their owners.

For me, dog training has always been about building understanding, trust and clear communication between dogs and humans. Being part of an organisation that values professionalism, education, and real-world outcomes means a lot.

I’m excited to continue to learn, grow, and help more dogs and their owners succeed together. 🐕💜

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey.

I wanted to share this because many of the points raised really resonated with me. In my own training, I always integrate an understanding of dog behaviors and emotional wellbeing, and over time I’ve observed handling approaches in some show environments that personally don’t sit comfortably with me.

All of my dogs are purebred; however, showing has never been something I’ve chosen to pursue, simply because I prefer to keep my dogs in situations where I feel they are most relaxed and comfortable.

This is just my personal perspective and experience, and it certainly isn’t a criticism of the many ethical breeders, handlers, and exhibitors who genuinely care deeply for their dogs and prioritise their welfare. I do think, though, that conversations like this are valuable and worth reflecting on. - https://www.facebook.com/share/v/18DNvZZuNK/

I chose this video BECAUSE of the swearing because sometime this is how dog trainers feel and want to say this to you. But in these times, you cant say this to people becasue they might get offended. I have to agree with this trainer. DONT F%$KING UNCLIP YOUR LEAD!!

If I've said it once, Ive said it a thousand times. You should never walk a dog that pulls on a harness. WHY??? This pic...

If I've said it once, Ive said it a thousand times. You should never walk a dog that pulls on a harness. WHY??? This picture says it all. This is what harnesses make dogs want to do .... PULL!!! That is what they were designed for. So if you dog pulls STOP WALKING THEM ON A HARNESS!!

It’s a common story: a family goes to pick up a puppy, sees two siblings playing together, and decides on the spot that they can't bear to separate them. It feels like the "kind" thing to do, giving them a companion for life. But in the world of dog behavior, raising two puppies of the same age together can lead to a phenomenon called Littermate Syndrome, and it’s something every new owner needs to have on their radar. 🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺

Littermate Syndrome occurs when two puppies become so intensely bonded to one another that it stunts their individual development. Instead of looking to their human owners for guidance, they become an insular "pack of two." This often manifests as extreme separation anxiety when they are apart for even a second, a terrifying fear of new people or environments, and, in some cases, intense aggression toward one another as they reach maturity. It’s not just limited to biological siblings, either—it can happen to any two puppies under six months old raised in the same home. 🏠⚠️

The good news is that it isn't a "guaranteed" outcome, but preventing it requires a lot of extra work. To raise two well-adjusted dogs, you essentially have to raise them separately under the same roof. This means separate training sessions, separate walks, separate crates, and even separate playdates. They need to learn how to be confident, independent individuals who don't rely on their "other half" to navigate the world. It’s double the effort, but it’s the only way to ensure both dogs grow up happy and secure. 🎾🧬

If you’re currently struggling with two young pups who seem "glued at the hip," or if you're considering adding two to your family, understanding the psychology behind this bond is vital. Knowing the early red flags can help you pivot your training before the behavior becomes a lifelong struggle. 🌟🏆

Have you ever dealt with the "double puppy" challenge? Find out if your dogs are showing signs of Littermate Syndrome and how to fix it! 🐾✨

You’d have to be asleep at the wheel to not realize that we have a major reactivity epidemic.

But why? In short, culture, and all its downstream effects.

The training industry, responding to cultural shifts, is hard at work selling you on terribly deep seated, complex emotional causes—and thus terribly difficult, and complex solutions.

Of course you’d also have to be asleep at the wheel to not realize how much current cultural programming has impacted the way that owners live with their dogs.

Rules are suggestions, boundaries are flexible, consequences—if present at all—are underwhelming and thus ignored.

This dysfunctional leadership dynamic has created a massive population of spoiled, entitled, boundary pushing brats.

Of course that’s an entirely unpleasant, and difficult commercial “sell”—not to mention many in the industry are so deeply indoctrinated that they can only view dogs as victims of trauma and genetics—and so we’ve seen the training industry largely sidestep the truth, and instead present reactivity as this wildly complex emotional landscape owners have to *try* to learn to understand and navigate.

And while there are indeed reactive dogs struggling with varying degrees of anxiety, fear, and aggression—they’re absolutely NOT the overwhelming majority of reactivity cases the industry wants you to think they are.

I’m sorry, but on the whole, for most dogs and owners, this stuff is far more simple and straightforward than you’re being told.

For most of you struggling with reactivity issues, the truth is that you’ve created pushy, bratty, entitled canine monsters—not just on the walks, but everywhere—and so the reactive chickens are simply coming home to roost.

I don’t say this as a preachy “gotcha” or condemnation, I say this to hopefully wake up the vast majority of you struggling with reactivity issues, and being told you’ve gotta undergo years of nonsensical rehab protocols, when in reality, you simply need to be a kind, but also unapologetic leader who lays down the law appropriately, and doesn’t suffer brattiness or tantrums gladly.

Put simply, brats are created, not delivered.

How would you handle a problem dog? 🐶

✅Professional trainers assess behaviour.
✅We create tailored training plans.
✅We resolve behaviour issues.

That’s what we do every single day.

When legislation is written without meaningful input from qualified and experienced trainers across all training tools, the consequences are real.

⚠️ Dogs suffer.
⚠️ People suffer.
⚠️ Dog bites statistics increase.
💔 Dog surrenders and euthanasia rates increase.

❌ One-size-fits-all decisions do not solve complex behavioural problems.

⚖️ Balanced consultation leads to balanced legislation. ⚖️
If laws impact dogs, owners, and public safety professional trainers with real world experience across all training tools must be part of the conversation.

A raised hand teaches nothing but fear. 🐾💔

Dogs don’t understand cruelty.
They don’t know what they did wrong.
They don’t learn lessons from pain they learn how to be afraid.

Fear doesn’t build trust.
It doesn’t create loyalty.
It doesn’t teach respect.

All it teaches is how to flinch.
How to hide.
How to brace for the next moment instead of feeling safe in it.

Dogs want to please us.
They want to belong.
They want to feel secure in the hands that feed them and the voices that guide them. 🐶🤍

Discipline should never come with terror.
Love should never come with threats.
And no animal should ever have to wonder if the next touch will hurt.

Kindness teaches far more than force ever could.
Patience builds confidence.
Gentleness builds trust.

Every dog deserves a home where hands are used for comfort, not fear.
Where guidance comes with understanding.
Where love is never something to be afraid of. 🌱🐾

If we truly care about animals, it starts with how we treat the most vulnerable moments and choosing compassion every time.

Someone came over and demanded I put my dog in another room because they're "scared of dogs." I just stared at them. This is MY DOG'S HOUSE. He LIVES here. You're a VISITOR. He's not getting locked away in his own home because you're uncomfortable. If you're that scared, YOU can wait outside or leave. My dog has more right to be in his living room than you do. He pays rent in unconditional love and companionship. You contribute nothing. So no, I'm not locking up my family member for your comfort. Adjust or leave
