Is your furry friend scheduled for surgery soon? 🏥

Here are some simple tips to help you to get ready for their recovery.

**Limit Activity** - You will need to limit the amount of activity your pet does over the 2 weeks after their surgery to allow for healing. This means no running, no long walks, no playing and no jumping. If you have an active pet, enquire about some post-op sedation during their recovery.

**Post-Op Checks** - As part of the surgery packages, we offer complimentary 3-day and 7-day post-op checks with one of our nurses. This is so we can monitor how they are healing.

**Set up an Enclosure** - Set up a cozy enclosure with a soft bed and some toys to limit their activity post-surgery. Ensure it’s located in a warm, dry, and quiet area, away from other pets.

**Prepare Boredom Busters** - Prepare some enrichment activities, toys, and puzzles to keep your pet mentally engaged and entertained during their recovery.

**Cone of Shame** - A plastic E-collar will be provided after surgery, so they don't nibble at their incision site or bandage. If your pet needs something more comfortable or escape-proof, there are plenty of alternatives available.

**No Swimming or Baths** - While the incision site heals, they cannot get it wet, which means no swimming or baths for at least 2 weeks after their surgery.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out!

Is your furry friend scheduled for surgery soon? 🏥

Here are some simple tips to help you to get ready for their surgery.

**Bath Time** - Give your pet a bath beforehand, as they won’t be able to get wet for at least two weeks after the surgery.

**No Breakfast** - Do not feed your pet breakfast on the morning of the procedure, but they can have access to water until it's time to go in.

**Water Access** - Your pet can still have access to water up until they come into the clinic that morning

It is also important to consider their recovery period and how best to accommodate for them, something we will be exploring in the days to come.

Many believe that a cat’s purr is a sign of contentment, but it can also be a signal of self-soothing in moments of stress or discomfort. This gentle vibration serves as a coping mechanism, allowing our feline friends to calm themselves in challenging situations. Listen closely; there’s more to their purr than meets the ear.

Pet of the Week: Miss Molly! ❤️

Miss Molly came in for a dental scale and polish. She was the sweetest little patient who loved getting all the attention (and we happily obliged!). She soaked up plenty of cuddles from vet Alex and our practice manager Rachel while she was here, and we are happy to report that she left with a fresh, sparkling smile! 🦷✨

Not everything our pets eat is meant to be on the menu. So what do we do in these situations?

⚠️ Try and figure out the details - what they ate, how much they ate, and approximately when they ate it

⚠️ Observe your pet for symptoms out of the ordinary - vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, tremors, drooling, or anything "not quite right"

⚠️ Contact us (or your closest vet) as soon as possible, and relay the details

We are here to assist you and your pet in any way we can!

As winter approaches, it’s essential to ensure our furry friends are cozy and warm. How can you be prepared?

❄️ If they are allowed, invite them indoors for extra warmth

❄️ Provide them with a comfy bed with warm blankets

❄️ A snug jacket can keep them warm during outdoor adventures

❄️ Keep an eye out for signs of discomfort, as colder temperatures can worsen joint issues
