Is your furry friend scheduled for surgery soon? 🏥
Here are some simple tips to help you to get ready for their recovery.
**Limit Activity** - You will need to limit the amount of activity your pet does over the 2 weeks after their surgery to allow for healing. This means no running, no long walks, no playing and no jumping. If you have an active pet, enquire about some post-op sedation during their recovery.
**Post-Op Checks** - As part of the surgery packages, we offer complimentary 3-day and 7-day post-op checks with one of our nurses. This is so we can monitor how they are healing.
**Set up an Enclosure** - Set up a cozy enclosure with a soft bed and some toys to limit their activity post-surgery. Ensure it’s located in a warm, dry, and quiet area, away from other pets.
**Prepare Boredom Busters** - Prepare some enrichment activities, toys, and puzzles to keep your pet mentally engaged and entertained during their recovery.
**Cone of Shame** - A plastic E-collar will be provided after surgery, so they don't nibble at their incision site or bandage. If your pet needs something more comfortable or escape-proof, there are plenty of alternatives available.
**No Swimming or Baths** - While the incision site heals, they cannot get it wet, which means no swimming or baths for at least 2 weeks after their surgery.
