Daisy first visited our salon back in March, and to say she was terrified would be an understatement. 💔
Unfortunately, she hadn’t had the best experiences at groomers in the past, which resulted in some pretty aggressive behaviour caused by fear and anxiety.
At that first appointment, Mum didn’t get the beautiful teddy bear cut she had hoped for and that was okay.
Our priority was simply to do what we could with the least amount of stress and impact on Daisy’s mental health and wellbeing. Sometimes grooming isn’t about perfection… it’s about compassion, patience, and helping a dog feel safe again.
Well yesterday Daisy came back to see us, and we were SO proud of her. 🥹 While she’s still not completely comfortable, there was such a huge improvement in her behaviour. The trust is slowly building, and she’s starting to allow herself to be handled more calmly and effectively.
Again, not quite the fluffy teddy bear makeover just yet… but honestly? We think she is absolutely SUPER cute exactly as she is. 💕
As groomers, we often post our “best” images online, knowing full well that other groomers and even competitors can sit behind a screen critiquing the work we produce. But grooming is so much more than creating artwork for display.
What’s often forgotten is the backstory behind the photo:
🐾 How the dog handled the grooming process
🐾 What was safest and kindest for that dog in that moment
🐾 The owner’s needs and lifestyle
🐾 What coat maintenance is realistic for both dog and family
So next time we find ourselves judging a grooming photo online, maybe pause for a second and ask…
✨ “I wonder what the backstory is to this dog?” ✨
We are incredibly proud of Daisy and the progress she’s making, and we think she’s adorable no matter what. 💖
