💚 Enrichment Tip for Hot Days

I’m preparing training treats today using Prime100 dog roll — easy to cut up, air-dry a little, and perfect for training.

I always crumble a few extra pieces and scatter them through the garden.
It turns an ordinary backyard into a sniff-and-search adventure for the dogs.

This simple “find it” game is more than fun — it’s enrichment.
Sniffing activates the brain, lowers stress hormones, and helps dogs relax afterward.

A few minutes of sniffing and searching can be just as satisfying as a long walk — especially in summer heat. 🌿🐾

What do you do to keep your dog happy and enriched on hot summer days?

In Germany, some supermarkets have introduced a clever solution for dog owners: pet parking pads. These are temperature-controlled, ventilated kennels placed near store entrances where dogs can safely rest while their owners shop. According to DogSpot, one of the companies behind the innovation, the kennels are designed to be secure, hygienic, and stress-free for pets. Owners can lock and unlock them using a smartphone app or a store-provided code, ensuring both safety and convenience.

The idea is to prevent dogs from being tied up outside in unpredictable weather or left in hot cars, which can be dangerous. According to DW News, the pet pads maintain a comfortable climate year-round and include transparent panels so dogs can see out, reducing anxiety. This initiative reflects Germany’s growing commitment to pet-friendly urban design and has been praised for combining technology, animal welfare, and everyday practicality.

🌟 Looking for the Perfect Home 🌟

A dear friend of mine needs to rehome her much-loved little dog — a 3.5-year-old Maltese x Jack Russell.

This boy is an absolute sweetheart 💕 He looks like a mix between Mr. Big and Strudel, with the charm to match!

He gets along well with other dogs, though big dogs can worry him a little at first.

Due to changes in life circumstances, his owner has made the heartbreaking decision to find him a new home. He will only be placed in the most perfect, knowledgeable, and loving home — someone who can give him the attention, care, and pampering he deserves.

✨ Castrated and vaccinated
✨ Social, happy, and loves being part of the family
✨ Would thrive as a much-loved inside companion

If you think you could offer this beautiful boy the kind of home he truly deserves, please contact me for more information

"If you don’t need it — don’t use it!"

I don’t use or recommend prong collars, e-collars, or head halters.

My training focuses on trust, communication, and practical tools that actually help dogs feel safe and learn better.

If a dog doesn’t need it, I don’t use it — and if they do need something extra, I find the kindest, least intrusive option that works.

It’s surprising how many modern dog trainers still reach for head halters like Haltis as a go-to tool.

Marketed as “gentle,” they seem harmless enough—until you watch a dog flinch, freeze, or claw at its face trying to get it off.

These tools may not look harsh, but don’t be fooled by the soft nylon and friendly branding. The physical and emotional pressure they create is very real.

Imagine wearing a halter yourself—one that tightens every time you look around or walk a bit too fast. Now picture someone suddenly yanking your head sideways when you get distracted. Sounds uncomfortable? That’s because it is.

Head halters exploit leverage. A small movement of the leash can jerk a dog’s entire head, twisting the neck and jarring the spine. For some dogs, especially those with pre-existing issues or just high sensitivity, it’s not just uncomfortable—it’s painful.
Add the psychological layer: dogs who shut down, panic, or go into avoidance simply because their face is trapped. That’s not training. That’s suppression.

Yet walk into a group class and you’ll often see Haltis used like school uniforms—standard issue.
Trainers will say, “He’s walking so nicely now!”
Sure he is—he’s been micromanaged into submission. You could get the same look with a tight rope around a child’s head, but no one’s calling that progress.

There are better ways. Training with clarity, reinforcement, and choice takes more skill—but it respects the dog as a learner, not a thing to be controlled.

We can do better than slapping on a head halter and calling it “kind.” It’s 2025.

Let’s train like we mean it.
