Jasmin recently came in to see us for some lump removals and results showed they were benign.

While Jasmins outcome was good its a great reminder that not all lumps are made equal. Some are benign and harmless, while others can be more serious or become infected and uncomfortable for your pet.

Unfortunately, you can’t always tell just by looking or feeling a lump what it is. That’s why we have a few different diagnostic options available to help investigate them further, including:

• Fine needle aspirates (sampling cells from the lump)
• Biopsies
• Histopathology testing through the laboratory

These tests help us determine what the lump is and guide the best treatment plan for your pet.

If you notice a new lump, a change in size, redness, irritation, or your pet bothering an area, it’s always worth having it checked sooner rather than later. Early assessment gives us the best chance to diagnose and treat any concerns promptly.
