I've been holding off on posting this story for a while until things settled down.

I purchased Caraxes. A little dragon with a red mutation. Unfortunately he has Metabolic Bone Disease, he was Unfortunately sold to me this way. And this didn't happen overnight.

What is MBD?
A severe and painful deficiency in Calcium and Vitamin D3. This is caused by poor diet and poor lighting.
Bearded dragons need calcium in their diet and lots of UV exposure to aid in digestion, growth and bone structure.
I push the BSFL hard for lizard owners because I KNOW that they can reduce the likelihood of dragons from getting this painful condition.

In Caraxes, MBD has caused stunted growth in his left hind leg, fusion of the knee and toes, and inability to walk properly. (Descriptions are under the xray photos).

Diet and lighting are so very important for keeping any kind of lizard, they all need proper lighting and a good balanced diet. Please feed your dragons and other lizards a proper mix of greens, vegetables and high quality feeder insects. Cheap dog food is not an appropriate diet for any lizard. PLEASE FEED YOUR LIZARDS PROPERLY!

Caraxes has a long road ahead, this condition isn't reversible, but it can be treated and managed. And because he is a young dragkn, he will learn to compensate for his disability.

BSFL are the healthiest options for your lizards, they are high in calcium and they help to minimise the risk of developing Metabolic Bone Disease.
