Coastal Canine behaviour & training is still here to support you all. Being a small family business social media tends to take a bit of a back seat.
A thank you to all for the on going support. Especially my friends and family, the continual questions about dogs, and to all my on going and new clients. My growth is not possible without any of you! As my studies continue, Coastal Canine will grow to offer more exciting things! 🫶🏼

Everybody meet this sweet girl, Yara 🍭
Yara’s story is a bit sad. Found dumped in the bush with a fishing lure stuck in her foot! After a vet visit to fix her up Yara is now at Port Macquarie animal shelter waiting for her forever home.
Due to a rough beginning to her life, Yara will take some time to warm up to you as she is wary of strangers. Although with some time, patience, & compassion she has proved to the carers within the facility that she really is an angel with so much love to give. Currently she seems dog social but proper play opportunities with another dog are pending.
Yara has a special feature too, her unique coloured coat also feels like silk 😍.

Coastal Canine behaviour & training will be offering 2 free sessions to whoever adopts her. As well as free advice with settling Yara into her new forever home.
Please reach out if your are interested or share to help this girl find a home!!

Let’s get one thing straight first! Puppies can be WILD, it is developmentally appropriate for them to be. The cute puppy playfulness doesn’t last forever, soak it all in for what it is alongside supporting them to understand and find there off switch.
Absorb all the cuteness while they are little but help them learn at the same time so the cuteness doesn’t become a problematic behaviour. Puppies are capable of learning as soon as you bring them home.
I love enrichment, playing, walking, & socialising. They are all important aspects for a puppy to learn how to navigate, but so is calmness and learning how to just do nothing.
Depending on your lifestyle will depend on where and when you want to support this skill. I’m here to help you to support them. 🫶🏼

Puppies are defaulted to be playful, through supporting our pup Ocean, providing on going training, & fulfilling all his other needs we have these pockets of peace through out the day 🙌🏼.

Coastal Canine has a new mascot!
We want to introduce to you, our special needs rescue puppy, Ocean 🌊.
We adopted Ocean from a small local rescue at Forster Tuncurry boarding kennel. Ocean was surrendered to the rescue along with his litter mates, he was the only one born completely deaf. Deafness in a puppy like Ocean usually arises due to incorrect breeding, when both dogs of the breeding pair have merle or dilute colouring. Both oceans parents were Merle and one also with dilute colouring, leading to his disability but beautiful coat.
Training is taking a little longer than a usual pup but we are willing to be patient with him.
So far we have nailed crate training, sit, down, & come (without distractions). Our main goal with him is building trust, strengthening our relationship, supporting him in finding his place within our lives and reinforcing settle & calmness.
Starting with a solid base, leads to future successes. Be ready for quirky videos shared as Ocean grows to be a beautiful dog. 🙌🏼
If you follow Forster Tuncurry boarding kennels on Facebook you will be able to see all the gorgeous dogs they still have, looking for their forever homes 🫶🏼.

Have you ever heard of enrichment?
As a trainer and someone passionate about canine behaviour, I can’t stress enough how vital enrichment is for your fury friends! It’s more than just play, it’s about tapping into their natural behaviors and keeping their minds engaged. Think puzzle toys, snuffle mats, scent games, and varied walks. These activities combat boredom and reduce unwanted behaviors. Want to learn how to create a stimulating environment tailored to your dog’s needs? I’m ready to share my knowledge with you! Let’s work together to unlock your dog’s full potential!

Introducing Coastal Canines’s two main mascots.
Benny & Yuki.
This is how my passion in dog training & behaviour started, with my love for dogs & own dogs at home.
I was once a first time dog owner too, I attended puppy pre schools and did all the googling I could to understand as much as I could as I had no idea what I was doing. I’m grateful for the community around me and the amazing people prior to my course that have patiently taught me all that I now know, because Google & YouTube proved to be not entirely correct 😂.
Benny is my old boy, he is a border collie x blue cattle dog. I’ve had him since I was 18 and he is my heart & soul dog, even in his stubborn old age. Yuki is my sweet girl, she is a blue cattle dog. At 3 years old she is a ball of energy, filled with intensity and loyalty with a side of cuddles.
Together these two love swimming, playing fetch, having a wrestle, training, adventuring, and just being cosy at home with the family.
My dogs are part of my family, they are everything to me. As I know I am everything & more to them.
You will see more videos & photos shared of this pair as Coastal Canine continues its journey as a small business. 🫶🏼

Taking an early morning moment to share with you all our giant love bug who is dearly missed!! The big beautiful gentle soul, Zeus. 🫶🏼
Coastal Canine shares lots about our dogs that are still by our sides but I wanted to shine the light on those we have lost. The saddest part of loving a canine companion.
Zeus is a Cane Corse (Italian Mastiff), he was my tricky to train & hard to read dog when on a walk. It all came down to being over protective of the family, exactly what his breed is meant to do. Yes we all experience this from time to time, even me. We adjusted our walks and where we went for outings with him to enjoy our outings together with no stress and that’s okay. He was perfect at home, always laying on the grass watching the kids play. Now he’s always watching from the sky alongside the Sun. 🫶🏼

Update: Henry has been saved by a rescue.
FOSTER OR ADOPT!!
Everyone meet Henry. A loveable ball of brindle ♥️
Henry is currently at Port Macquarie Animal Shelter, being cared for by one of my dearest friends.
If you go onto their website you will find more details on Henry.
Henry did have a home but unfortunately had to be returned to the shelter. Henry does have separation anxiety which will need managing, we feel he would suit a home with another canine companion to keep him company. I myself have met Henry and did a session with him, he is such a soft and gentle boy, I fell in love instantly and honestly would take him myself if I could.
To further help him get a home I am offering 4 FREE SESSIONS for Henry’s on going training and behaviour management to whoever Fosters or Adopts him!!
Henry is sadly running out of time!

Coastal Canine behaviour and training has been away for its own personal training. I have spent 3 incredible days in Sydney, working closely with my assessor’s/teachers. I have had the amazing opportunity to train with puppies, dogs, and kittens at Yagoona RSPCA, as well as fine tuning my skills as a trainer with Delta therapy dogs at St Ives Showgrounds.
My weekend was filled with meeting new like minded women and absorbing so much information based around behaviour and training.
I’m so thankful for my course through the Delta Institute and look forward to all the next face to face learning opportunities that are to come. 👌🏼

The cute little faces you see in these photos are all puppies & a kitten that are available for adoption. There are so many beyond these photos that are still waiting for a home!

Coastal Canine behaviour & training hopes you all had a fun filled long weekend, celebrating with those you love & your bellies are chocolate filled.
Don’t forget chocolate is highly toxic to dogs, let’s keep all our fur babies safe! If you think your dog may have ingested lots of chocolate treats, contact your closest or trusted veterinarian.
