This gorgeous kitty we recently groomed is Jack!😸

This beautiful boy had a very thick, greasy coat, and one of the biggest issues we treated was stud tail.

Many cat owners don’t realise just how common this condition is. Stud tail occurs when the oil glands at the base of the tail produce excess oil, creating a greasy strip through the coat. Over time this attracts dirt and debris, leading to blackheads, greasy build-up, irritation and, if left untreated, even skin infections.

It’s also common to find these blackheads under the chin (feline acne), around the cheeks and whiskers, and sometimes around the ni***es.

How to check your cat

Part the fur at the base of your cat’s tail and look closely at the skin.

• Tiny black dots that resemble blackheads are usually easy to spot.
• If you can already see a greasy line running down the tail, there’s a good chance blackheads are hiding beneath the fur.

How we treat it

At The Whole Kitten Caboodle, skin and coat health is one of our specialties.

We use carefully selected, cat-specific, research-backed products and techniques to safely remove the blackheads without damaging the skin. We then finish with a medicated antiseptic shampoo and skin-conditioning treatment to soothe irritation, restore the coat’s natural oils and leave the skin healthy and comfortable.

Over the coming week I’ll be sharing more tips on feline skin and coat health, including common conditions, how to spot them early, and what you can do at home to keep your cat’s skin in great condition.

Wilson’s before and after . A lot of cats have dandruff and oily skin. This can lead to a build up of loose hair - as it will stuck to the oily skin and form a skin suffocating layer of ‘dead hair’ . This can also lead to a greasy tail full of blackheads which will be my next post .
These issues are all solved by regular grooming!

Purebred British Shorthair Siblings Looking for a New Home!
(Desexed 1 Male and 1 Female)

Two, very loved, beautiful siblings are needing a new home due to a change in family circumstances. They are not a bonded pair and can be separated.

They were born on the 24/01/2024 from a registered Pedigree Breeder in NSW and come with Pedigree papers. They have lived in their current home since July 2025 and settle into new environments very easily.

Both are quiet, cruisy little cats with excellent temperaments. They love their food and are very good and tolerant with children, dogs and other cats. They love head and neck tickles and scratches and are very good taking medication and being groomed. The currently sleep happy and peacefully in the same area as a large German Shepherd. They are indoor cats and only venture outside under supervision in a contained rear yard.

They are healthy and have no special requirements. They both had entropion surgery (Leo – right eye and Isabel - left eye) due to their lower eyelashes touches their eye (common in BSH cats). Both have recovered and no further surgery or maintenance is needed and no vision impairment. Isabel’s eye is a little wonky due to how it healed giving her a cute little oddness.

They also both have mild gingivitis which is a breed predisposition. This is not causing any discomfort, and no management is currently required. Happy to provide Vet history.

Please contact Sharon on 0433811710 for more information and to arrange a meet and greet.

Winter is approaching! It's a great idea to give your kitty a nice bath and some deshedding, or even consider a cute teddy cut before winter, to help keep them comfortable and happy during the chilly months.
