The man the myth: Beau Greaves 🙌🏽 an incredible human who taught us a lot way back when we use to dive commercially for lobster. We shared some epic times together on the Great Barrier Reef and this is is one day I’ll never forget.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Words from the man him self — BG⠀⠀
⠀⠀
“A day to remember this one! 12 years ago the fist crocodile I ever caught over 100kg.⠀⠀
⠀
I chased him across the shallows, an opportunity came up to dive on him, my instincts told me I had to land right on the thick part of his neck, to far forward he could get me, to far back he would get out of my grip and be able to grab me!⠀⠀
⠀⠀
His natural instincts told him to death roll, I could feel his body tense a second before he rolled, I held on and held my breath after about 30 death rolls later I had him buggered.⠀
⠀⠀
I’m hooked. Ever since I was a kid I loved reptiles, this was the ultimate! I had to get this close to experience it, my passion, respect and love for reptiles grows from getting up close and personal, I can appreciate this animal for what it is, to see him up close and check him out like this is what I really love! ⠀
⠀⠀
Even better connections happens when you can read and understand an animals body language and get this close with out having to wrangle it! ⠀⠀
Experiences like this is what makes me happy to be alive.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Note, he did get one solid head butt in and split my cheek open, this was after I tied his jaws shut so my mate could come over and check him out before releasing him 🐊 ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
(This is not advised! Crocodiles can be dangerous and are a protected species in Australia, and I’m happy for that! Seeing them in the wild makes my day, catching them when I was younger did cost me a $5000 fine)”
