Meet Zoe, the latest addition to our Duncraig Vet Family. Zoe met our acquaintance when she came for a check up and Dr Christine diagnosed her with Heartworm disease - which was a surprise to all given that the prevalence in Perth is very low (Duncraig Vet has not seen a case for over 20 years!). Zoe was surrendered and adopted by Duncraig Vet so that we could treat her and then rehome her. Our wonderful head nurse has been an attentive second mum, looking after Zoe over the weekend when the clinic closes.
Although the treatment for Heartworm disease has improved over the years and the prognosis is good, it can still be intensive, expensive, and has risks of major complications. If you have any questions regarding Heartworm prevention, please do not hesitate to talk to our lovely staff. Duncraig Vet is currently offering free Heartworm tests if an annual Proheart injection is given on the day (for new or relapsed Proheart injection cases only).
You might be lucky to meet Zoe when you come to visit us - she loves attention and pates, but does not understand quite yet that she can't be the center of everyone's worlds!๐
