🎆 Cracker Night 2025 – Territory Day 🎆
Tuesday 1st July

While many of us enjoy the fireworks and celebrations of Territory Day, our pets often don’t. The loud bangs, bright flashes, and vibrations can cause serious anxiety, and sadly, many pets go missing or hurt themselves trying to escape.

🚨 Reminder: There are only Monday 30th June and Tuesday morning (1st July) left to collect any required medication for Cracker Night.
If your pet needs sedation, please don’t leave it to the last minute!

🧐 How to Prepare:

✅ BEFORE THE DAY:
• Secure Fencing: Check your fences and gates now – repair any weak spots to prevent escapes.
• Microchip & ID: Ensure your pet’s microchip details are current and they’re wearing a tag or collar with up-to-date contact info.
• Medication:
• Anxious or reactive pets may need sedation to stay calm.
• Sedation medication is not over-the-counter – we must have seen your pet in the past 6 months to dispense without an appointment.
• Contact us immediately if you need assistance.

🏡 ON THE DAY:
• Create a quiet, secure space for your pets to retreat to.
• Keep them indoors – away from fireworks and noise.
• Close doors, windows, and curtains to reduce sound and flashes.
• Use music or the TV to help drown out fireworks.
• Provide toys, enrichment activities, or treats for distraction.
• Avoid walking pets on the day – fireworks often start early.
• Stay calm and act normally – pets sense changes in your behaviour.
• Allow them to hide if needed and comfort them only if they seek it out. Never scold a scared pet. 💛

City of Darwin Council Desexing Program — Free Desexing & Microchipping for Residents!

The City of Darwin Council is proud to offer a comprehensive Desexing Program to help care for our furry friends and support responsible pet ownership.

🐾 What’s included?

💙FREE desexing and microchipping for registered dogs and cats — no charges to residents!

💚To access the program, your pet must be registered with the Council.

🐕🐈 Not registered yet? No worries!
Staff will be at the Pound registering animals prior to their surgeries. Registration for desexed dogs in June costs only $8 and covers registration until September.

Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to ensure your pets are healthy, safe, and registered.

🎓✨ CLASS OF APRIL–MAY 2025 ✨🎓

A big round of applause for our April puppy school graduates—Bingo, Bonnie, Cami, Lola, Panda, and Zoe! 🐾

These clever pups began their puppy school journey in April and officially graduated in early May. Over the weeks, we watched them grow in confidence, learn important life skills, and build strong bonds with their humans. Each pup brought their own unique charm and energy to class, making it a truly special group to work with.

A heartfelt thank you to their amazing families for the dedication and love they’ve shown—your support has made all the difference in their progress and success. We’re so proud of everything this group has achieved! 💛🐶

🎓✨ CLASS OF APRIL 2025 ✨🎓

Look at how cute our pups from March-April are!

This time around, we had the pleasure of working with Pippa, Maia, Roxy and Sebastian! A wonderful group of pups who each had their own little quirks and personalities.
Coming to puppy class has really helped to bring them out of their shells!
At the beginning Maia was such a shy girl, very cautious with other puppies, but by week 4 she was playing and joining in on the craziness.
Gorgeous little Roxy is deaf and through-out the 4 weeks has amazingly learnt using hand signals!
Our little ones, Pippa and Sebastian have learnt how to be a bit more patient and gentle, even though all they wanted to do was run and play with their class mates 😂 It’s been such a joy watching them grow, learn, and have fun together.

This round, we had the pleasure of working with an amazing group of dogs; Star the gorgeous Aussie Shepherd, Maverick L the cute little Spoodle, Pablo the most handsome Chihuahua, and Maverick J the big beautiful Wolfhound x Bull Arab.

Each one brought their own unique personality to the class, and it’s been such a joy watching them grow, learn, and have fun!

These group sessions are led by an instructor, allowing you and your puppy to learn basic skills alongside other puppies, big and small.

Puppy Preschool can support you and your puppy by:
