Thank you for everyone’s patience!
2025 after photos and award photos!

Huge thank you again to Moo Goo for sponsoring with their Dr Zoo Range and iGroom Hub as well!
And a big thank you to our wonderful judge Taylan as well! She gave some fantastic feedback to our entrants and we were so thrilled with her constructive comments and praise for how the competitors gently handled their dogs along with the application of grooming techniques. Can’t wait for our bigger comp next year, date TBC but hopefully we can have a little expo as well! 🥰❤️

Winning photos and after photos will be posted later today! Just finishing editing 🙂

Huge thank you to our major sponsor this year Dr Zoo by Moo Goo. They have a fantastic sensitive skincare range for dogs which has worked wonders for many of my chronic skin problem clients and is gentle on my own eczema prone skin as well! They have a great human range too for any groomers or bathers battling hand flare ups!
And a massive thank you to iGroom Hub for sponsoring our judge and up and coming groomer prize and donating some of their gorgeous finishing combs!

Up and Coming Groomer (Sponsored by iGroom Hub): Mairead Manders

Advanced;
1st Renee Orchard (Freestyle)

3rd Lori Keele (Purebred)

Intermediate:
1st Alex Bowtell (Asian Fusion)

This year we actually had a complete tie between Best in Show and Runner Up Best In Show and so had a final going over of the two dogs to determine the winner. All entries are eligible for BiS based on their scoring so winners can be from any experience level

At Groomfinity every contestant is given a scoresheet with detailed feedback to assist in improving their grooms at a competition level. The scoresheets cover several areas including prep work, technical skill and application, kind, safe and anatomically aware handling of the dog during the groom, complexity and difficulty and of course, correctness of the groom to the breed standard or class entered. For our mini “Anything Goes” comp this year, entrants could choose to enter in any class and we had entries from purebred scissor, poodle, Asian fusion and freestyle represented in the ring split across two experience levels based on amount of time grooming and past history of wins in competitions. The scores are calculated across each category and placings are made based on final number. In the event of a tie, whoever has a higher score in the middle component is awarded the higher placing. In the event the scores are tied completely, the judge goes over both dogs once more and makes a decision on who the winner will be.

After photos/ photos with judges to come later today with sponsors logos! I’ve added a sneak peak of our best in show and runner up best in show winners to our story, thank you so so much to everyone who attended and as always our generous sponsors!

Our Best In Show winner also received a special donated prize for best Asian fusion in show generously donated by Natalie Wright! 🥰

Had a fantastic mini comp and we were so thrilled to have the amazing Taylan judge for us and provide invaluable feedback for competitors to apply to future grooms! If anybody is keen to compete again before the new year, I strongly encourage competing in the Big Day Out for Dogs competition in December, it’s the last year for it but it’s a wonderful little comp with a similar atmosphere and I believe it’s 5-6 weeks away so you can possibly use same dogs with enough growth!

We’ll update soon for our bigger 2026 comp, hoping to be able to offer some seminars or workshops and do a mini groom expo! 😄

Just over a week left until Groomfinity!
Remember, anything goes with what type of dog and style of groom you can do! We have some amazing prizes and we’re setting it up so everybody will get something decent!

We’ve had a good handful of entries but would love to get a few more in! Really great first competition, open to public but minimal spectators compared to a royal or a pet show comp, etc. This is a mini comp this year so really great chance to test the waters and try something new and get some feedback! Would love to see some more purebred/ handstrip entries or some more contenders for poodle or Asian fusion! 😊

You can enter the in person class with either live or model dog or you can enter model dog with pre done models!

I may have other dogs available from clients so Msg me if needing a dog!

3 year old Standard poodle available for anybody wanting to do a freestyle or Asian fusion groom!
She has a small amount of hair missing between armpits/ lower chest but it’s grown in a fair bit and isn’t super noticeable.
She’s currently in a modern cut with a bubble (happy for her to lose it and have a scissored TK or welcome to do whatever you want!) she had a spiral down one front and one back leg in July and has tail and neck dyed plus leopard print on side. You’re welcome to re-dye something new or touch up roots, she’s done a couple comps so should be fine for anyone to use and I’m not fussed on the haircut so fine for beginners as I want to shave her for summer to do some sports (can’t have dye) 😊

She can be cheeky but she’s lovely natured and very soft so needs a gentle groomer (firm but fair is fine!) message the page or Michaela Andpets if you want to use her! She can come to comp prepped the day before by me or you can prep yourself 😊edesslp

We will be having the wonderful Taylan Bradley judging our 2025 Groomfinity event on November 9!

Taylan’s dedication to grooming education and continued learning aligns perfectly with Groomfinity’s aim to help competitors hone and develop their craft.

Taylan is a Melbourne local with over a decade of experience in all aspects of grooming. She has ventured far and wide, both geographically and professionally.
Her journey has seen her compete across Australia and the USA, competing at master level. She has won multiple ‘Runner Up Best in Show’, titles in Poodle and Salon Freestyle categories, alongside ‘Best in Group’ in Asian Fusion, Pure Breed Scissor, Poodle, and Salon Freestyle. As well as receiving ‘Best in Level’ Master at a 2024 competition.
Taylan is a dedicated educator, having had the honour of speaking at Groom Expo 2025 in Hershey Pennsylvania hosted by Barkleigh.
Taylan has travelled Australia, hosting workshops, seminars, and grooming sessions. She was humbled to receive a nomination for the esteemed Barkleigh Honours: Foreign Speaker of the Year in 2023 and has been featured in several grooming publications.

Update!
Date is now confirmed, we will be doing November 9 on the Dandy Show day to avoid clashing with another event and due to availability.
We will announce our new judge this year shortly, anybody interested in sponsoring feel free to reach out and I’ll be contacting previous sponsors as well to confirm this year’s- all sponsors will also have the opportunity to have a stall at the event if they wish but I’ll need you to fill in Dandy Show’s stall holder info 🙂

Being at Dandy Show, all attendees need a ticket to the event, all comp entrants will receive a ticket, but friends/ family/ helpers will need to purchase one. It’s generally pretty cheap entry ($15 adult, family (2x adults, 4x kids $50), $10 kids 11-17 and under 11 free). Parking is $10 if parking in the main carpark (able to leave anytime), sometimes there’s no car park charge if parking at the poultry pavilion and leaving car there for the day but it depends on the committe whether they charge or not from my experience 😊

Entries will be opening the next few days, even though this is a smaller event we’ve had some fabulous prizes already donated so there will be just as amazing prizes as our usual larger events and of course feedback sheets as always to help you improve your grooms 🥰

Thank you for everyone’s patience, we have a few options for the 2025 event, please got obthr pool and vote for your preferences but we’re leaning towards the Dandy Show date. We’ll likely do an “anything goes” single session split by experience levels of attendees for the 2025 comp. It’s very last minute as the organisers have had a lot going on in personal lives and were considering skipping this year to prep for a bigger event next year but with limited competition opportunities in vic this year and lots of people messaging us hopeful for a 2025 event we want to run a small fun comp to keep everybody’s spirits up!

Anything goes means you can bring any dog for any class and let judges know at prejudging what category you’ll groom for, and you’ll be judged based on that. We’ll also have a small expo with all sponsors able to have a stall on site if they wish (which is why we’d prefer Dandy Show date so they have a chance to sell to general public and we can treat the event as a grooming expo type experience to showcase grooming to the public and all of the products available!)

The particular focus of the event in 2025 is to network, compete, have fun and get feedback on grooms you want to hone for other comps or for our comp early next year! We also want to try a Tassie event at some stage the next couple years to bring a consistent competition they can look forward to so we have lots in the works long term so the smaller event this year isn’t due to passion for the event fizzling out by any means, just recollecting ourselves for a bigger better Groomfinity down the track! 😊

If anybody is interested in stewarding or helping organise in any capacity, please reach out and let us know! Chloe is taking a step back to focus on other obligations but will still be helping out so you’ll see her face around still, but Michaela (me) will be the primary organiser and would love some extra helpers or people with passion/ ideas who can assist! Also any sponsors keen to get onboard again or for the first time in 2025, shoot us a message! 😊
