Out of scrubs and got scrubbed up for a night out ✨

The 2026 KDCCI Business Excellence Awards brought together the incredible businesses, people and community spirit that make our region so special.

While Pilbara Vet Care didn’t take home the award, I’m incredibly grateful to have been recognised as a finalist in the Best New/Start Up Business category.

Looking back on the past 12 months, I’m so proud of what Pilbara Vet Care has achieved, the patients, families and communities I have reached and the opportunity to bring a different kind of veterinary care to the Pilbara.

A huge thank you to my family, friends, clients and everyone who has supported this little business along the way. 💙

I’m so pleased to share that $377 has now been donated to Veterinary and Community Care (VaCC) on behalf of Pilbara Vet Care! 🐾

This donation represents $1 from every routine consultation and vaccination booked between 1 July and 30 September.

Six months on from Cyclone Narelle.

There was a week in the aftermath that very few people heard much about.

Flying over the cyclone-affected landscape, seeing the extent of the damage from the air, and then landing to assess injured wildlife was an experience that will stay with me for a long time.

As vets, we naturally want to save every animal we can. But not all veterinary work is about saving lives.

Sometimes our responsibility is to recognise when an animal cannot be saved, and to make sure it does not suffer unnecessarily. In those moments, providing a calm, humane end is every bit as important as providing treatment.

For that week, the team on the ground — and in the air — was tiny: myself, an exceptionally talented helicopter pilot and a dedicated wildlife officer. Three people doing some fairly confronting work in an extraordinary environment.

But behind us was a much wider network of professionals providing advice, coordination and support. I remain incredibly grateful to everyone who quietly contributed.

It wasn’t a week that was overly publicised at the time, nor did it need to be.

But six months on, it feels like something worth reflecting on.

For the landscape, for the wildlife, and for the people who stepped in and did what needed to be done.

Sometimes veterinary care means saving a life.
Sometimes it means preventing suffering.
Both matter.

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, a day to honour the beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and the unconditional love they leave in our hearts.

As a veterinarian, one of the greatest privileges of my work is being trusted to care for your pets through every stage of life, including the hardest goodbyes. Thank you for allowing me to share in that journey with your families. It is an honour I never take for granted.

💊 A friendly reminder about prescription refills 💊

To make sure your pet never runs out of medication, please allow at least 7 days’ notice for all script orders.

A few important reminders:

🐾 Medication stock orders are placed every Monday morning, so please submit refill requests by Friday where possible.

🐾 Prescriptions can generally be refilled for up to 6 months, after which your pet will need a recheck consultation before further repeats are issued (unless otherwise discussed for certain chronic medications).
