This week we had the sweetest visit from 7 gorgeous Border Collie puppies for their first vaccinations and microchips 🐾💉

This beautiful bunch came in an amazing range of colours — tri, cream & white, blue merle, chocolate, chocolate merle, and one classic black & white 🤎🖤🤍

We’re happy to report they all passed their health checks with flying colours and were absolute stars during their visit 🌟

Needless to say, it wasn't hard to find volunteers to pose for a photo! Thanks Nurse Margot, Vet Student Brooke and Kennel Hand Bri! 🐾💙

Poor Bear the Kelpie came to see us after getting a bone firmly wedged in his teeth! 🦴😬

Thankfully, with a light sedation and some clever maneuvering by Dr Tam, we were able to safely free Bear from his uncomfortable burden. He was feeling much happier afterwards — and probably ready for a softer snack option! 🐾❤️

Bones can sometimes become stuck or cause dental injuries, so it’s always worth keeping a close eye on your pups while they chew. Remember that bones, if fed, should always be raw and larger than the dogs head to avoid causing problems for your pet.

Great job, Bear! 💙

💛 Join Us for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea – Wednesday 20th

Cancer has touched so many of our lives — whether it’s a family member, friend, colleague, or someone close to our hearts. Most of us know the impact it can have, and the importance of coming together to support those affected.

On Wednesday 20th, we’ll be hosting Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea to help raise funds for the Cancer Council, supporting vital cancer research, prevention programs, and services for those going through cancer.

We would love for you to join us for a cuppa, a treat, and a chance to come together as a community for an important cause. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference.

Come along, bring a friend, and help us support families facing cancer. Together, we can make an impact 💛

UPDATE- This lovely boy is now reunited with his family. Big thanks to everyone.

This lovely dog was picked up approximately 5km east of Wallumbilla near Roma and has now been handed into us at the vet clinic.

He is safe, comfy, and has a full belly while we try to locate his owner 🐶💙

If you recognise him or know who he belongs to, please get in touch with the clinic as soon as possible. Please share this post to help reunite him with his family!

Maine C**n Kittens 🐾🧡
These gorgeous Maine C**n kittens visited us this week for their second kitten vaccinations and they were absolutely stunning!

Did you know? 👀
✨ Maine C**ns are one of the largest domestic cat breeds — some can weigh over 8kg. One of these kittens has already hit 2kg!
✨ They’re often called the “gentle giants” of the cat world because of their friendly, affectionate nature.
✨ Their thick, water-resistant coats and bushy tails helped them survive harsh winters.
✨ Maine C**ns are famous for their chirps and trills — they love “talking” to their humans.
✨ They mature slowly and may not reach full size until 3–5 years old.

Safe to say these four were a special site to see 💉🐱💕

🎉 Happy Birthday to our superstar receptionist and clinic coordinator, Sarah! 🎉

Sarah does so much more than “answer the phones.” She is the calm in the chaos, the operational control centre of our clinic, and the bridge between our clients’ needs and making things work in an incredibly busy diary. She keeps the day moving, the vets on time, supports the entire team, and somehow keeps the chaos contained.

Every single day, Sarah is translating medicine, money, urgency, fear, and grief — all while managing the pace, the pressure, and the people of the clinic with incredible skill, intelligence, and leadership.

The role she carries at the forefront of our clinic is not an easy one, and we are so grateful for everything she does behind the scenes (and front of house!) so that the rest of us can do the work we need to.

Sarah, thank you for carrying the load with strength, compassion, humour, and heart. Our team and community are so lucky to have you.

Wishing you the happiest birthday — you deserve to be celebrated today and every day! 💙🐾

Happy Birthday to the wonderful Dr Tamara! 🎉

Today we celebrate someone who is not only an incredible vet, but also an amazing person. Dr Tamara’s dedication, compassion, and passion for helping animals and supporting their families shines through in everything she does.

She is deeply loved by our community and by our entire team, and we are so grateful for the care, kindness, and positivity she brings every single day.

Wishing you the happiest of birthdays, Dr Tamara — we hope your day is as special as you are! 🐾💙

We want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible dedication and effort of Dr Meg Salter, who went above and beyond while on call this past Anzac Day weekend.

Over the course of the weekend, Meg attended a calving, stitched up a horse, treated a dog with pancreatitis, performed emergency surgery on an eviscerated dog, and removed a foreign body from a dachshund’s intestine. It was a demanding and intense few days, and she handled it all with skill, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

We think she is amazing, and feel like her dedication to providing exceptional veterinary care and support to our community—especially outside of regular hours—truly deserves recognition.

We’d also like to acknowledge all of our vets, who sacrifice their weekends and time with their families to provide an on-call service. They do this because they genuinely care about supporting the community that supports us.

Thank you, Meg, and thank you to our incredible team of Veterinary professionals 💙

We’ve loved having vet student Gemma with us over the past 3 weeks at DDVS! 🐾

Gemma has proven herself to be an exceptional upcoming vet, showing amazing knowledge, practical skill and enthusiasm. With only a few months until she graduates, we have no doubt she has a very bright future ahead of her. We wish her all the very best for what’s to come!

We asked Gemma to share what she enjoyed about her time with us:

“The team at DDVS are incredible!
I loved seeing such a huge variety of animals and being hands-on with so many cases.
It has been a privilege to work alongside vets and vet nurses who are so passionate about what they do, never hesitating to go above and beyond for their patients.

I am so grateful to be finishing this placement feeling more confident and excited about a future in veterinary practice!”

Thank you, Gemma, for being such a wonderful part of the team — we’re excited to see all that you achieve! 💙
