Ada is the tortie lover's dream kitty!

She's full of tortitude but that's layered with extreme sweetness. Ada's been waiting too long for her forever home! She's highly intelligent and learned her name quickly. She's the perfect combination of independence and affection. Ada's become the queen of the house in foster care and doesn't mind bossing around the others.

She loves to play but is also happy to laze around. Ada has one of the loudest purrs I have heard and one night it woke me up thinking 'where on earth is that coming from?!' - she had snuck into the bedroom and was curled up asleep in the curtain. She likes cuddles, pats and chin scratches but on her terms…she is a tortie after all and likes her independence. Ada would enjoy a kitty companion and loves her foster sister Matilda (Tildy) if you’re looking for two. They are yin and yang - so different but perfectly balanced. She is not a fan of dogs at all!

Ada would suit a single person or couple or a family with respectful older kids, might not tolerate littlies smothering her.

Della, or 'Della Bella', is a beautiful grey and white tabby who was found living on the streets of Springvale. Since coming into foster care, she’s come a long way—slowly learning to trust and to very much enjoy the comforts of a safe, loving home!

While she can be a little wary at first, Della's confidence has grown every day. She enjoys a gentle stroke, soft words, and quiet companionship. She's not ready to be picked up but come dinner time she's a big show off and very smoochy on her terms. She's also very clever and incredibly responsive to her name.

She’s a calm and curious girl who just needs someone patient to help her continue her journey - especially if you’re offering some cheese! Yes, Della has developed quite the taste for cheese and is happy to be your snack-time sidekick - fancy blue, a french brie or a trusty cheddar.

She's MOSTLY moved on from her aeroplane ears but still has moments of RBF as you'll see! Haha

Della is happiest with another feline friend by her side and would need a home with ideally a friendly, confident cat to help her settle in. She has bonded amazingly with the other cats in foster care, especially our boys and would be a superb companion to an existing cat.

She’s also okay with gentle, cat-savvy dogs who respect her space.

Due to her sensitive nature, Della is not suited to homes with young children. She’s looking for a peaceful, stable environment where she can continue to grow and feel secure.

If you’re after a sweet, soft companion who just needs a little time and a lot of love, Della might be the one for you. From the streets to princess town, this girl is very special!

Meet Storm!

Storm's truly exceptional and is the cat you will talk about for the rest of your life. She is an energetic and very confident girl (some would say highly strung!). She’s a curious little explorer and always wants to see what you’re doing and NEEDS to be involved. She has a very strong personality and always makes it clear what she does or doesn’t like. This may involve (gently!) biting you if she doesn't agree with what you are doing, though it's never nasty. She's an individual. With a kink in her tail and nick in her ear she is also physically one of a kind.

Storm doesn't connect with people lightly but when she does it is serious. She is a cat that bonds incredibly closely with her human or humans. If you've been gone all day, she wants to literally hug you and will glue herself to your chest purring her head off.
She is incredibly affectionate but it's in a unique Storm way. When she’s finally tuckered out, she will happily fall asleep in any position as you will see in her photos.

Storm needs to find her person or people. They should be someone who understands her....but also good with establishing boundaries. She is VERY smart but sassy and some would say rather naughty. She could probably be harness trained as she's so confident and clicker training might work well for her.

She would suit a home that can provide her with a lot of stimulation and attention. A single person, family with teenage kids + or childfree couple who are wanting a feline child would be ideal.

Other cats, Storm would prefer to be the only cat in your life. She seems fine with dogs (it's obvious to her that they are far inferior).

Meet Marigold!

Marigold was born in Foster Care. Although Marigold is not a great fan of being picked up, she does love pats, chin and back scratches. Marigold is a very shy girl but will be seen playing quietly by herself. She does get along well with other cats and kittens but is not too fond of the dogs, especially when they bark. She loves sleeping on the bed or lounging around in a nice quiet spot catching some sun light.
Marigold is best suited for a quiet home, preferably with no young children, given some time to adjust she will settle in well

Meet Sadie!

Sadie is a very sweet pretty girl who has been in foster care since she was really little and struggled to find the right home due to her initial shyness. She's a stray-born girl so still on the shy side with new people. She's not an instant lap cat but she LOVES pats and especially bum scratches. She's playful and loves her food! So treats will win her over.
She LOVES to play and snuggle with her siblings - biological and otherwise and being with another kitty would help her to be more confident. Her sister Pixel is a character...initially more scared than Sadie she's now a bit of a funny clown who adores people she has bonded with...and responds to her name like a dog would and comes running! They'd be great together as a perfect pair for a mature home. They're pretty special.
It's definitely her time to shine...she's made such great strides in foster care and now really needs a forever home where she can continue to blossom. She's probably not suited to a home with kids younger than teenagers and an introduction to a friendly dog would probably be okay. She DEFINITELY needs another kitty friend.

Meet the enchanting Zafrina, the 12-week-old tabby kitten who is ready to win hearts and bring endless joy to her new family. Her mesmerizing green eyes and sleek, striped coat make her a beautiful creature to behold. In just her short time in foster care, this sweet girl has already shown a delightful personality that is both playful and loving.

Zafrina thrives on interaction and has a special fondness for toys, tunnels, and her cherished cat scratching post tree, which doubles as her favorite napping spot. She's a young explorer who welcomes every new experience with excited paws. Her love for food is just as strong, and she always finishes her meals with a contented purr.

Residing in Berwick, Zafrina is set to be desexed and will be ready to meet her new family from the weekend of August 9th onwards. If you are looking for a delightful kitten to introduce into your life, Zafrina could be the perfect feline friend for you. At only 10 months old, June is already a mumma cat. She is the mother of our Calendar kittens. June is named after the lady who brought her and her babies to our rescue. She is still a bit unsure about what has happened which means she is taking her time to come out of her shell.

Despite her shyness, we can see her sweet nature underneath and she has lots of potential as a loving companion- she needs an experienced cat owner to give her space with lots of love and treats.

Meet Lowanna!

Lowanna is a beautiful cat looking for her forever home. She and her sister Mama Bunjil came in with a bunch of kittens, so they have formed a close bond. Although Lowanna is still quite shy, she loves to be around people and will happily keep you company without being too demanding. She has been known to enjoy the occasional hand sniff but would rather stay close than be touched.

If you’re looking for an independent cat that will still show you love and affection when she’s ready, then Lowanna could be the perfect companion for you! Meet Metis!

This sweet girl came to the rescue with her mum and siblings at 1 week old from a hoarder house, after her mum Mitski (available) had given birth in a tyre. Metis is the gentlest of her siblings, letting them check out the new people or things first before coming over. But once she's comfortable she loves to have a good investigate! She follows her foster carer around the apartment and is great company in the bathroom.
She enjoys playing with other kittens, chasing balls together or jumping for a stick toy. You can truly see her confidence shine when she plays. Metis is great with cats of all ages and would need another one in her home as a friend.

Meet Pascal!

Pascal is a girl who is looking for her furever home. She is a beautiful grey with small dilute tan spots and a tuxy white pattern. With her black nose, she is a little like a koala! She is still a timid & slightly skittish girl, so she needs a patient human experienced with timid cats to give her time to settle and develop. She suits best in a quiet home, without young kids. But she should get along well with friendly cats - she is getting along well with Cybelle. Pascal is not tested with dogs.

About 2nd Chance Cat Rescue..

Founded in 2011, 2nd Chance Cat Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abandoned, stray and surrendered kittens and cats. Our rescue is run entirely by volunteers in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

2nd Chance Cat Rescue has a pro-life approach, with well over 2000 feral/stray and abandoned kittens successfully socialised and re-homed. We have found that even the most apprehensive or timid animals can become wonderful companions if enough quality time is spent with them and our carers go to great lengths in doing so. All potential owners are screened using a comprehensive questionnaire designed to ensure that the cats and kitten(s) are suited to their new environment and owners before leaving 2nd Chance Cat Rescue.
