Why choose a 1:1 groomer…

Many dogs cope with a normal salon environment. They come and meet new friends and have a great time so what happens to the dogs who…
🐾 Don’t like other dogs
🐾 Don’t like being groomed
🐾 Need a quiet and calm environment
🐾 Have reactivity issues/negative experience with grooming

They still need to be groomed as well!
This is where I offer my Grooming salon.
I work 1:1 which means there are no crates cages or holding facilities. My sessions offer a quiet and calm environment with no excess barking throughout the day.

There are absolutely no other dogs during your dogs grooming session resulting in a positive experience for dogs that need that calm environment.

I have successfully worked with many clients over the years who have dogs who don’t get along with other dogs or have a negative experience with Grooming and whilst they still may not enjoy being groomed, they are at a place where they can be comfortable enough for us to do what we need to without being overly stressed.

What to expect in your puppy session….

A question we frequently get asked is “when should I start my puppies grooming journey?” and the answer to that is as soon as you possibly can.

Grooming comes with new smells, loud noises, a new environment, meeting new people and new textures which can be really scary for a puppy. The sooner you expose your dog to all of these the better. They can grow up learning that grooming is not scary and it’s not going to hurt them and it’s not the end of the world.

In this photo, we are looking at Louie who is learning to stand on the table. It has taken us a few sessions for him to successfully stand during his Grooming and not lay down and fall asleep as we can see in the second photo.

During your Dogs puppy session, not only do they get groomed they also have lots of play and positive reinforcement teaching them that Grooming is not scary and it can be a fun experience. Doing this also builds your Dogs confidence around Grooming.

Things to know before you drop your dog at the groomer….

🌟 Please don’t feed your dog right before you drop them off. There’s nothing worse than standing for an hour and a half on a full belly and sometimes they’ll need to go to the toilet and we would prefer that they didn’t while in the bath or on the table.

🌟 Please don’t take them for a big run or walk before they get here. We need them to have the energy to stand and endure the groom and not be exhausted and want to sleep and lay down!

🌟 Please don’t take them for a swim in a river, beach or creek before your groom. There’s some coat prep work we do before we pop them in the bath and it helps very much when they’re dry and not muddy!

🌟 Please don’t make a big deal of dropping off your fur baby. It’s best to hand the lead over and go after a brief consultation, sometimes we unintentionally pet anxiety into our dogs and teach them that something scary is coming.

“Can you do it cheaper, our last groomer didn’t charge that much” we charge the prices we do because it does take time and effort and it takes prep work and understanding coat maintenance as well as products, tools and utilities. We do understand that Grooming doesn’t come cheap however I try to keep my prices as affordable as I can, for yourself and also that I am not undercharging myself. We also need appreciate how beautiful little Ellie is and her sweet face 🐾

“It’s not hard to wash and dry a dog…”

No it’s not hard to wash and dry a dog, but as a groomer we don’t just wash and dry your dog.
We assess your dogs coat, we find the best way to achieve the results you are looking for.

We look at your dogs skin as we wash and dry, we look for any skin abnormalities, hot spots, lumps or itchiness and we let you know even if you already know. 🐾

❌ Canceling your appointment last minute or the day of doesn’t just mean your dog doesn’t get done or rescheduled, it means I lose part of my income for that week, it’s the difference between being able to pay my bills or putting the money back into the business. If you need to reschedule your dogs groom please give us as much notice as you can! I ask for minimum 24 hours notice otherwise I need to bring in my $25 cancellation fee if cancellation is within 24 hours. ❌

You arrive at your groomers and your dog is shy, nervous or trembling when they don’t usually show these behaviours…

Some dogs bounce in excitement, some walk calmly and hit the breaks and you have to pick up and take them back.

If your dog seems nervous it doesn’t mean that anyone is hurting them or that your groomer isn’t good to them. Some dogs just don’t love the grooming process no matter how much you desensitise them to it.

Grooming comes with new smells, a loud dryer, meeting a new person, standing and being patient while groomed (when all they want to do is play)

It’s a lot to take in and some dogs are just more sensitive than others and that’s okay. That’s why I book enough time to go slow and work at the pace your dog is comfortable.

One of the most common question I get asked is what do I start my dogs grooming schedule? NOW!!! Start your dogs grooming experience as soon as you can! Doesn’t matter if your dog has a coat that won’t matt, doesn’t matter if they have a tight curly coat or a labrador type of coat, start prepping your dogs grooming future as soon as you can! Have them growing up used to being blow dried, being washed, their paws being touched for nail clips it’s all essential to start early.

Your dog isn’t just another dog for us, they become our fur family too! However if you want their groom to be calmer, safer and actually look how you imagined… this is what I need you to stop doing before their appointment:

❌ Hyping them up in the car.. You may think it’s cute and it gets them excited for their groom, it’s not. They either get here TOO excited that it’s harder to calm them and gain their focus or they get here absolutely petrified and again it’s hard to get them to calm down and relax.

❌Holding them tight and telling them “It’s okay, don’t worry!” It actually tells them that something scary is coming! The best way is to get them out the car, let them sniff around and ignore them while you talk to me about your grooming goals.

❌ Skipping brushing between grooms
Matting = pain = fear = difficult grooms. If your dog has matting that is tight to the skin and cannot be painlessly removed it will be shaved out. I will not be causing your dog pain and discomfort to achieve your grooming goals.

🐾I’m not saying this to shame anyone. I’m saying it because I want your dog to feel safe, calm and comfortable and these tiny changes make a HUGE difference 🐾

💖You wouldn’t go to a hair stylist you don’t like, neither should your dog💖
