This Hawksbury jump saddle came in this week for a reflock and saddle clean, during inspection I discovered the gullet adjustment bolt had completely snapped 😳

The owner was completely unaware, which is a scary reminder of how easily these things can go unnoticed.

Regularly checking your saddles, fittings and gear is so important — especially with adjustable saddles. A small hidden issue can quickly become a safety risk for both horse and rider.

Routine maintenance isn’t just about keeping saddles looking nice, it’s about safety and comfort too

📢 Clients Needed for Saddle Fitting Assessments

I’m currently completing my saddle fitting assessments and am looking for 3 horses/riders to participate.

What’s involved:
✔️ Horse mapping
✔️ Saddle assessment
✔️ Rider measurements
✔️ Lunging Horse
✔️ Brief ridden assessment
✔️ Either Western or English Saddle

⏱️ The session will take approximately 1 hour (give or take)

This is a great opportunity to gain insight into your saddle fit and your horse’s comfort while helping me complete my assessments

How cool is technology 🤯

I recently trialled thermal imaging during a saddle fit and WOW - the difference you can see is incredible. Being able to actually see pressure points and inconsistencies takes the guesswork out of it.

We were even able to pick up signs of lameness, which was later confirmed during the physical exam 👀

This is exactly why correct saddle fit is so important — it directly impacts your horse’s comfort and performance.
