Very important to check if your birds can eat what you’re eating before feeding!

🦢 Last year we investigated the sudden deaths of ducks in a backyard flock in south west Victoria, after seven died within minutes of each other.

The owner did the right thing by calling the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline, allowing our vets to quickly investigate and rule out serious diseases like avian influenza.

The cause was confirmed as avocado toxicity. Avocados contain persin, which is toxic to birds.

While thankfully this wasn’t an emergency animal disease, the quick report meant risks were managed and serious illnesses were ruled out.

This is an important reminder that:

🥑 some everyday foods can be toxic to poultry
⚠️ sudden deaths should always be reported, even in small flocks
🛡️ early reporting protects your animals and others nearby
☎️ contact your vet immediately if animals show sudden illness or death, or call the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

If something doesn’t look right, it’s always better to call.

Eggs, Eggs and more Eggs!

We have taken a huge break from posting and selling while we focus on what we will move forward with. But here is some news!

We have been hatching jumbo j*p quails like crazy to get our numbers up.
Some gorgeous colours have been emerging from the incubator!

We will have eating and fertile hatching eggs available soon.
Chicks and adults will be available depending on stock.
