By developing a strong bond and connection to them which is achieved through understanding of horse behavior as well as having a natural approach to working with and handling horses. This is how big Amora’s mum was just days before giving birth.

Djinnderah, or Djinny as we call her, is an absolute superstar.

She has some exceptional old Crabbet Arabian bloodlines, tracing back to the original Crabbet Stud founded by the Blunts. Beyond that, her ancestry reaches all the way back to the Bedouin horses.

Her family also has a wonderful performance history, with both her father and siblings being very successful endurance horses. So there is not only beautiful heritage behind her, but a proven history of athletic ability and endurance.

At 21 years of age, she is sound, healthy and still an absolutely spectacular mum!

We have so much to appreciate in this mare. Not only does she have wonderful bloodlines, but she also has beautiful conformation and an exceptional temperament.

Choosing the right mare was vitally important to me when deciding to breed. I wanted the complete package, and Djinny absolutely embodies that.

She has carried and produced a truly spectacular foal, and I couldn’t be happier with what she has given us.

Here is your daily dose of foal zoomies! 🥰

Today was Amora’s first day out in the bigger paddock.

She passed her vet check with flying colours, although she does have a very slight front limb deformity. Since we’re chasing perfection 😉, the vet has recommended we manage her exercise for the first week. So, for now, she gets short outings in the bigger paddock during the day before returning to her stable.

All going to plan, she’ll soon be able to enjoy the bigger paddock permanently.

Judging by today’s performance, she’s certainly making the most of her freedom! Just look at those zoomies and how naturally talented she already is.

Poor Mama is going to have a hard time keeping up with this one! 😂🤩🥰

And here she is, our little bundle of joy!

There’s a long backstory to her and some spectacular parents, which I’ll share with you soon. But for now, I’m far too busy spending time with this precious baby to write long posts. 😊

She’s a little filly, and she’s absolutely perfect, beautiful and adorable. We are completely in love! 🥰🤩

Flame has been an absolute angel since my injury.

She can be a bit of a dragon at times, but over the last few months, she’s been as sweet as pie. I think she knows I’m injured.

She’s spent hours just standing quietly with me, resting by my side. Maybe she is healing me? 🥰

I’m really enjoying spending time with this sweet girl.

Still recovering from my injury, but slowly trying to get back to some normal tasks. Stall cleaning is one of them.
It takes a bit longer and is a little more challenging when you only have one functioning leg and still need two crutches.

But where there’s a will, there’s a way even if it means turning stall cleaning into an extreme sport! Thank goodness I have a husband and kids that help! Couldn’t do it without them. 🥰

I put my crutches down for one minute to hop over and give Valentine a scratch. I turn around because I’m wondering what that noise is and there’s Storm playing with my crutches!

He clearly doesn’t realise that I actually need those things and that I’m stuck without them! 🙈🤣

More healing time with my herd.

Baby Rosa came over to give me a cuddle. She can be so sweet. 🥰

These little moments mean so much to me. I’m so grateful to be able to spend time with my herd again.

How sweet are they, coming to stand with me.

I have to fence myself off from them because they absolutely love chewing my crutches, wheelchair and moon boot. 🙈🤣

This is exactly where I want to be. Being with my horses is the best place for me to heal. PS I didn’t fall off a horse.

The new kid is slowly meeting his new herd.
Yesterday he met Flame and Djinny, which went really well. Flame instantly fell in love with him. 🥰
Today he met Storm, and luckily it was very uneventful. Exactly what we want. 😅
I like to introduce a new horse to each herd member slowly. It gives everyone a chance to adjust, keeps stress levels lower, and helps reduce the risk of injury. There’s no need to rush these things.
The new kid is very well adjusted. He’s lived in a herd most of his life, so he understands herd dynamics and respects boundaries well.
Now we’ll see how he goes with some of the others a few of which can be a little bit more assertive.
