Autumn Pet Toxins: Horse Chestnuts (conkers)

The toxic ingredient in conkers is also found in the leaves and bark of the tree, so keep an eye out to make sure your pet doesn't eat these either. Conkers are also a choking hazard, and can potentially cause bowel obstructions if swallowed whole, which may require emergency surgery. Signs to look for in your pet include vomiting and diarrhoea, excessive drooling, excessive thirst or reduced appetite. In severe cases, ingestion can cause muscle tremors or seizures.

Meet gorgeous guineapig Louise, one half of Thelma and Louise! The girls were so good for their recent nail clip🥰.
Regular nail clips, roughly once per month, are important for guineapigs to prevent them from becoming overgrown, curling and uncomfortable for your pet.
It can sometimes be tricky to do this single handedly especially if your pig is particularly nervous or wriggly. If you would like to book your furry creatures in with one of of our nurses, please give us a call.

Cheeky chappy Ted recently came in to us after his owner was concerned he had swallowed a small toy. Thankfully Ted avoided having to undergo surgery and after some medication to help him be sick, quickly brought up the offending article - we certainly wern't expecting a portion of fries!!

September is officially Happy Cat Month: a celebration to promote feline wellness and happiness. It's all about:

Spoiling your cat with love, treats and toys
Scheduling vet checkups to keep them healthy
Learning more about feline behaviour and care
Sharing the joy of cats with others (yes, cat memes count!) 🐱

Do you have a cat of your own you'd like to celebrate this month? Or would you like a fun cat-themed image or gift idea to mark the occasion?🎁

Is this jacket yours? It was left at the practice earlier this week. Please contact us if this is yours on 01159212155 😊
