As some of you may know.
Our Patriarch of the team, Terry, has been in hospital for the past 15 weeks with GBS (Guillian-Barre Syndrome) - we finally have a discharge plan, however that requires some specialty equipment that we need to hire out.

Anyone who has seen or spoken to Terry knows he is very much a social butterfly and can not wait to get back out with you all and be his typical self again (as much as his current body will let him) and we hope you guys are just as excited.

While we understand that the cost of living crisis is hitting everybody hard; if you can donate we would be incredibly grateful. Even if you can’t donate, just a share will help get his story out there is enough.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀

One interesting pattern in camelid reproduction is that births almost always occur during daylight hours.

Most crias are born between early morning (like potentially 5-6am!) and early afternoon, which may seem unusual compared with many other livestock species.

This timing appears to be an evolutionary advantage.

In the harsh environments where camelids evolved, daytime births allowed the newborn cria to dry quickly and begin nursing while temperatures were warmer.

Several factors likely contribute to this pattern:

1. Hormonal rhythms linked to daylight cycles

2. Warmer daytime temperatures for newborn survival

3. Better visibility for mother and cria bonding

4. Improved protection from predators

Because of this natural timing, breeders often observe that camelid births occur during the day when monitoring is easier.

Nature seems to have planned this quite conveniently!

Massive success and we couldn’t be happier, makes the stress all worth it.

Home and unloaded!

Was a fantastic time at the 2026 Sydney Royal Easter Show! The kids did a fantastic job with going solo for such a large show. Time to bring on Hawkesbury!

Day 4 (yes sorry we’re late in the post) of the 2026 Sydney Royal Easter Show saw Heartbreak Hotel going into the ring and for an older boy he came out a champion!

🥇 & 🏆Coolawarra Heartbreak Hotel: Mature Male Roan Suri

Since he was awarded a champion he had the opportunity along with McFly to go in for Grand Champion Suri Male - however neither of them were awarded it, but that’s ok as it was a tough section of animals.

Day 5 (today) sees our babies just being animals for pets, photos and questions. Go see the little ones (human and animals) in the Munro Pavilion if you are there today for the LAST DAY of the show.

Desiderata Nora Eclipse unfortunately got not place but we are still happy with the comments she received from the judge.
