Caboolture Triple Tricks Trial 💙🐾
If today proved anything… it’s that it’s a very good thing we entered all three trials! 😂
And an even better thing that Meeko loves her mum enough to forgive some truly questionable handling…
Trial One
Meeko was an absolute superstar. Her handler… well… let’s just say she left a little to be desired! 🤦🏼♀️
With the trick sheets printed in numerical order instead of our routine order, I completely second-guessed myself, set up the wrong tricks, panicked, and confused both of us. Through all of it, Meeko never stopped trying. She simply trusted me, listened to every cue she could, and gave me everything she had despite my chaos.
Somehow, this incredible little bean still carried us to 3rd place! 🥉
Trial Two
Redemption!
A calmer handler, a happy Bean, beautiful teamwork… and the title we’d been working towards was finally ours.
Meeko gained her Trick Dog Title! 🎉🏅(pending Dogs QLD approval)
There is nothing quite like walking out of the ring knowing all the training, laughs, mistakes and persistence were worth it.
Trial Three
🦆🦆🦆🦆
Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans…
Ducks, kangaroo poo, puppy brain, and a Brittany that had spent all day trying so hard finally tipped the scales. Instinct took over and we finished with a DQ.
And honestly… that’s okay.
Because what I saw today wasn’t a dog that failed.
I saw a young dog learning to ignore every instinct screaming at her, choosing me over and over again around distractions that Brittanys are literally bred to notice. I saw a dog who never once gave up on me—even when I accidentally asked the wrong questions.
You can’t measure that with a ribbon.
You can only build it through trust.
Every time I step into the ring with Meeko, I’m reminded that the titles are wonderful, but the partnership is everything. Watching this beautiful girl grow into the dog I know she’s capable of is the greatest reward of all.
Thank you to everyone who helped us along the way today.
💙Miss Mary, thank you for taking the time to coach us and share your knowledge. We both learn so much despite the distance!
💙 Miss Tara Lyness, thank you for cheering Bean on from afar. Your support always means the world.
💙 And to Samantha Ibbott-Cordi… there simply aren’t enough words. Thank you for believing in us long before we believed in ourselves. Your constant encouragement, guidance and friendship have given us the confidence to keep stepping into the ring, to keep learning and to keep chasing our goals. We are forever grateful.
Today wasn’t perfect.
It was messy, emotional, hilarious, educational…
…and absolutely perfect in all the ways that really matter.
Onwards and upwards, Bean. ❤️🐾
