It is with a very heavy heart that I share the sad news that our beautiful girl Lucky is missing. She managed to escape from her new aviary on the very first day we moved into our new home, almost three weeks ago. It has definitely made settling in more difficult looking at her empty aviary everyday. The uncertainty of where she is or whether she’s okay, especially in this recent heat, is the hardest part.
Lucky has always been a little houdini, constantly looking for ways to sneak past me for an adventure and has nearly escaped us a couple of times. She had such a cheeky, playful spirit and loved to explore.
Because she enjoyed free flight, we never clipped her wings, and she was always safe inside with us. But when we moved and discovered an amazing, spacious flight aviary here, we wanted to give her the chance to enjoy the fresh air and an exciting new playground with the other birds.
After eight wonderful years together, having raised her from a chick, I like to think she’s out here somewhere, flying through the countryside and foraging in the bush, enjoying the freedom she always seemed to crave. I’ve shared posts in local groups and haven’t given up hope yet that she might turn up in someone’s yard one day.
At first I wasn't going to announce this as it truly hurts, but seeing as Lucky is what inspired me to start this business from the get-go, and as she is shown in all of our pages, logos and stores, I thought it was necessary.
Nothing feels the same without her, and it probably never will. But she will always be the heart, soul, and beautiful little face of Busy Beaks. 💚
