Behind the Bite Welcome to Behind the Bite! Behind the Bite has been operating since May 2019. Animals, large and small, skinny or tall, have been my greatest passion since I can remember, to be working with animals all day has always been my dream. I am Certified in Animal Psychology, grooming, cert IV in vet nursing, cert II in animal studies, cert III companion animals. I have also completed certificates in business/retail. This year I am undertaking a Nutrition & Breeding course, along with a certificate in animal Reiki & Massage. I am extremely lucky to have a shop front at the stunning Port Marina, 18 Park St, Port Macquarie. I differ to other groomers in the area, using a Holistic approach, providing positive reinforcement, meditation and lots of love, in a calming, gentle environment. I establish a connection with each pet prior to attempting any service, until they feel more comfortable and relaxed. I allow short play/cuddle/toilet breaks between services. Holistic Grooming Holistic grooming is an all-inclusive, premium grooming service. Any special needs, treatments, or time your pet requires is done as part of the package. All products I use have been vetted for efficacy and environmental friendliness! Holistic services offer a gentle calming grooming environment, I play meditation music throughout and use positive reinforcement to create a trusting environment. We work at the pet’s pace, holding paws and giving kisses creating a sense of love and security. My priority is ALWAYS the pets mental and physical wellbeing, I read body language to gauge when they’ve had enough or are becoming more relaxed and tolerant of the service throughout. *I do not cage animals between treatments* Therapy grooming Therapy grooming is suited to those who are fearful or aggressive during any grooming service. These sessions are designed to build trust and boost confidence, both, for the pet and owner. these sessions are VERY calming, we take things slowly and make a connection and prove I'm trustworthy before beginning the process with a holistic bath to start with. (over time we will build up to be able to do a full groom in one session). In some cases, I may have the owner stay with their pet during this experience. I also suggest bringing them in just for visits, where they receive praise, pats and love Psychology services Animal Psychology studies the cognitive processes and behaviours of animals. I offer gentle and calm modification/training, I work on forming a connection and earning trust with each individual pet before commencing our session. I use many techniques and methods, tailored specifically for each individual case. always end on a positive note, enjoying play time and cuddles before I leave, each visit. Classes There’s a class to suit everyone here at Behind the Bite! These classes are info packed and lots of fun. I aim to teach everyone confidence, trust, and provide an in depth understanding of the Canine mind.
