Overheating

There’s a suprising way that pets can overheat – even in the middle of winter. That coat that’s meant to protect them from the cold can actually cause problems if it’s not used properly. Here’s how…

Sure they might look hipster in their hoodies and sweaters, but hitting the park in that haute couture can make them seriously hot. And not in the fashion sense.

You see, those jackets and jumpers do the job of locking in that body heat beautifully. The only problem is that exercise produces lots of its own warmth, meaning that on a proper walk or run, they become strapped into their own heat bubble, with no way out. Plus, given that they can’t sweat, that body temperature can really sky rocket. Overheating caused by exercising when overdressed has become such an issue that even the RSPCA has threatened action against owners that do it.

But you can breathe easy. After all, the solution is simple. If they’re exercising to the point of panting, then get that jacket off. Running naked is far more fun anyway…
