My artwork for bushfire relief is finished and is officially open for bidding on eBay!! To be donated to and Wind Dancer Animal Sanctuary.
Whilst we were fortunate to escape fire activity, the Longwood area in Victoria was badly affected with Gunyah Animal Healing Sanctuary experiencing the sad loss of a rescued cow called Lennie. Our thoughts are with all of the affected animal rescue organisations affected by fire and especially by the loss of livestock 😔
Our mission:
100% of profits split 50/50 between both ACNC registered animal sanctuaries (after eBay fees and a $10 materials fee are deducted).

This is what our balanced maintenance feed mix looks like - measured portions of dried beetroot flakes, limited lupins, a small portion of oats and a measured portion of lucerne chaff. This mix is formulated mainly for growers or underweight goats, with the milkers fed separately with added copra meal and oats. Feed mixes are constantly changed due to having a mixed herd of very different stages of growth and ranges of healthy weight. This mix also takes into account our very barren, dry arid climate with no natural browse. Sometimes the mix has no lupins and grain, it relies on careful observation and health monitoring of our animals’ needs. Please note that by sharing our feed mixes for our complex rescue goats’ health needs, we are not providing any nutritional advice for your own livestock. Please seek veterinary advice.

Our Wind Dancer Animal Sanctuary GROUP members’ page (the group is a separate page to this one) has now been archived.
The group was originally created in 2019 for our hugely successful kitten rehabilitation and adoption profiles. Since moving to Victoria in 2021, we do not rescue domestic pets (cats/dogs) but we have kept the group page open as a history of those beautiful little kittens who we cared for and rehomed. Once again, for any followers of our main page who adopted one of our kittens, we do hope you are all very happy and please keep in touch wlith photos.
We rehomed a total of 52 kittens during 2019-2021 and miss them all dearly. If you would like to read about past rehabilitation stories the albums are still there to view but there is no new content there. Thank you to all group members in SA and Vic who were a great support during our relocation to Vic.

Thanks to Wildlife Victoria we were provided with very helpful information about what to do for a Magpie Lark fledgling whom had fallen from its nest. at our Sanctuary here.
We were provided with an extremely efficient response with an email requesting photos to confirm species and provided with fledgeling factsheets and lots of helpful advice from the emergency response operator.
We all agreed that reunification with parents is preferable so we were provided with advice about how high to place a nest up the tree and what materials are suitable for constructing nests. So, we found an old construction helmet liner, drilled holes in bottom for drainage and placed it inside an old plant hanger. Now we wait and hope the parents return to the tree to care for the fledgling, if not the fledgling will be taken to a veterinary clinic or an approved Wildlife Victoria carer.

Here’s a reminder of what great progress the mighty Don-Don has made since his arrival in late October (arrival on left then right)

Lupins, oaten hay, lucerne and sheep pellets with a mouthful of soybean and copra meal in the mornings that they steal from the males’ goat feed mix.

Ahh just gotta love a pair of excessively opportunistic and competitive sheep called Ronnie and Donnie 🐑💕🐑

Ronnie is helping to push (or ram) his feed into the storage bin…

ANNUAL REPORTS

We have completed our first annual report for 2019/20! It is available to view on the Australian Charities and Not For Profit website here: https://www.acnc.gov.au/charity/b24a91ef98561fafc3d4c23ebbbb2f28 Basically it shows that we successfully rehomed a LOT of kitties in our first 18 months of operation in Balaklava SA...and confirms that Michelle is obsessed with her poultry, bees, birds, cats and Maremmas. Now that Michelle has more room to accommodate more animals in Victoria, well...you can probably guess what happens next. Yep, husband needs to build more animal pens...
