🐦IT’S BABY BIRD SEASON!🐦

‼️ In the last 2 days we have had 8 baby magpies brought into our clinic. Most didn’t need rescuing and are now with a wildlife carer.

At this time of year, it’s common to see young birds, especially magpies - on the ground. These are usually fledglings, and they are learning how to fly. Their parents are often close by, keeping a watchful eye.

Here’s how to tell if a baby bird really needs help:
🐣 Hatchling or Nestling (bare or fluffy, can’t hop or perch): Needs help — they belong back in the nest. If you can see the nest, gently place them back.
🐦 Fledgling/Juvenile (fully feathered, can hop and flutter): Doesn’t need rescuing — Place them somewhere safe nearby and let their parents do the rest.
🪺 In danger (traffic, predators, injury):
Move them to a safe spot or contact a local wildlife rescue group for advice.

❓When in doubt — watch from a distance!
Most young birds are doing exactly what they’re meant to be doing: learning to fly.
