As everyone knows we are all facing uncertainty with the supply and pricing of diesel.

From a business point of view this makes this difficult moving forward.

I have now had to implement a $5 fuel levy on all grooms. This will be charged per household not per dog. If prices drop back to $2 a litre for diesel this levvy will be removed.

A positive case of Ehrlichia canis has been diagnosed at our Ayr clinic.

Ehrlichia canis is a very serious disease that affects dogs and is transmitted by the brown dog tick.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:
• Lethargy or weakness
• Loss of appetite
• Fever
• Weight loss
• Nosebleeds or bruising on the skin
• Swollen lymph nodes

𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 - Symptoms can be vague or develop slowly, which means ehrlichiosis may go unnoticed until it becomes advanced. Early diagnosis and treatment significantly improves outcomes. If your dog is showing any of the above signs, please seek veterinary assistance immediately.

𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 - A two pronged approach to prevention is strongly recommended. The use of a reliable tick control product in conjunction with a Seresto collar offers the best protection against this disease.

𝗪𝗵𝘆?

Ehrlichia canis is transmitted when an infected tick bites a dog. Many standard monthly tick preventatives rely on the tick attaching before being killed, which may not occur quickly enough to prevent disease transmission. Adding a Seresto collar provides an additional layer of protection by repelling and killing ticks on contact. This complementary safeguard helps reduce the risk of exposure if a preventative dose is delayed or missed, tick pressure is high, or ticks attach before other products take effect. Used alongside routine parasite control, a Seresto collar helps close protection gaps and offers dogs stronger defence against this serious disease.

Please be aware that Seresto collars are only effective against brown dog ticks for 4 months.
