So what happens when you mix Jellybeans with m&m's?
Nothing good. Earlier this week, the cats knocked a 640g tub of mms on the floor. On finding the almost empty tub, I assumed a human member of family had eaten them.
Around 7 hours later, Jellybean became very ill with vomiting, racing heart rate, restlessness, drinking lots and panting. The vomit contained a lot of chocolate and is probably the reason Jellybean survived.
There is s great online calculator that helps to work out if the dose of chocolate is dangerous for dogs as all chocolate has different levels of toxicity and depends on the dog's weight.
Treatment may be essential so it is important to seek veterinary advice if an animal has eaten chocolate at toxic levels.
Thankfully after receiving intravenous fluids and other medications, Jellybean made a full recovery despite some very disgusting poos.
