Complete Canine Care Love using massage to help dogs
Being a voice for the dog and an advocate for their best well-being. Hi, I am Genevieve.
(1)

I am a Canine Myofunctional therapist and Veterinary Nurse

I help all breeds of dogs and their different life stages. It's like Massage but a complementary treatment involving remedial soft tissue, sports massage, stretching techniques, rehabilitative exercises and lifestyle management. I have over 30 years of experience in the veterinary industry and bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and hands

-on experience to my service. The real reason I do what I do is I have a passion for dogs and enhancing a dog's quality of life, optimal health, happiness, performance and longevity. I got into Massage for natural pain relief options that are often effective for mild to moderate pain, with or without other pain medications. I have noticed some of the problems most dog owners face.
- Lameness and Limping
- Stiffness of joints
- Difficulty going up and down stairs; getting in and out of the car
- Old before their time – slower on walks
- Yelping when you touch certain areas of the body. I believe Massage can realign and re-balance our dog patients' physical and emotional well-being. If this sounds like your dog and what your dog would benefit from, please Get in touch by email, text or call.

🧡 It’s Never Just About the Dog

One of the greatest privileges of my work is that I don’t just treat dogs…
I’m invited into people’s lives.

Behind every dog I support — whether they’re managing arthritis, recovering from surgery, or simply slowing down — there is a person with their own journey.

Sometimes that journey includes illness.
Grief.
Stress.
Change.

Research now clearly shows what many of us already know — dogs are deeply attuned to us. They sense our stress. They feel shifts in the home. They carry more than we realise.

And often, when life feels heavy for the owner, I see it reflected in the dog’s body—tension, guarding, restlessness, or simply a look a little flat.

When I use massage, laser and infrared support, I’m not just working on muscles.
I’m helping the nervous system soften.
I’m helping the body feel safe again.

And something beautiful happens.

When the dog relaxes… the human relaxes too.

The room feels lighter. Breathing slows. Shoulders drop.

This work is about connection.
About supporting both ends of the lead — quietly and respectfully.

I feel incredibly grateful to do what I do.

A month ago, Bella could barely walk.
Today she sprinted from the front door to my car on the street to greet me for her massage. 🤎🐾

Apparently she only gets this vocal and excited with me and her grandmother… which makes it even more special.

Seeing dogs feel comfortable enough in their body to move like this again is everything. ✨

🐾 Why I Use Infrared Therapy in Most Treatments

Many dogs today live indoors and get less natural sunlight than their bodies were designed for.

This can contribute to:
• stiffness
• inflammation
• slower recovery
• reduced mobility

Infrared light supports the body at a cellular level. When placed directly on the body it helps:

✔️ improve circulation
✔️ support natural healing
✔️ reduce inflammatory stress
✔️ assist comfort and mobility

If a dog is very sore or sensitive, I often use the infrared pads first.
It helps the body relax so hands-on work can be done more comfortably afterwards.

I use it on my own dog most evenings — and yes, sometimes on myself before bed too.

Slipping Isn’t “Just Age” It’s Often Traction 🐾

Sometimes it’s not weakness… It’s traction.

I use and professionally fit Dr. Buzby’s ToeGrips for dogs who slip on tiles or floorboards, feel unsteady behind, are three-legged, or just need extra stability as they age.

Toe grips fit onto the nails and gently improve traction when the nail touches the ground. When fitted correctly, they help reduce slipping without changing natural movement.

Less slipping means:
• Less muscle guarding
• More confidence
• Better stability
• Reduced risk of secondary strain

Winnie and Chico wear them — and that small bit of grip makes a noticeable difference in how they move around their homes.

Complete care looks at the whole dog… right down to their feet. 🐾

Gentle supportive care for dogs who need a little extra help 🐕

Massage ❤️ Laser ❤️ Infrared work together to support comfort, circulation and movement especially for seniors and dogs with sore bodies.

Small, consistent support makes a big difference 🐾

🐾 Baxter the Border Collie – post-cruciate support

“The surgery was successful… so why is he still sore or stiff?”

This is something I see often after cruciate repairs.

Surgery stabilises the knee — which is essential.
But it doesn’t automatically reset the muscles, fascia or movement patterns around it.

Before surgery, dogs like Baxter often spend months compensating:
• tight hamstrings and glutes
• weakened quads
• altered gait and weight-shifting
• protective movement habits

So even when the knee is stable, stiffness or uneven movement can linger.

This is where post-cruciate support makes a real difference.

Baxter’s treatments focus on his whole body:
• hands-on therapeutic massage & soft-tissue work
• laser therapy to support healing and reduce inflammation
• infrared therapy to improve circulation and tissue comfort
• nail and pad trims essential for grip, posture and correct gait
• home adjustments (flooring, bedding, steps and routines)
• maintaining a healthy body weight to reduce load through the knee and support recovery

Surgery fixes the structure
Surgery stabilises the knee, which is essential.

Management is what helps dogs feel comfortable and confident again 💛🐾

Laser therapy isn't about quick fixes; it's about helping the body move more easily and with less pain. 🐾

Used thoughtfully, it can be a genuinely valuable part of a comprehensive dog care plan.

💛 In Loving Memory – 2025 & Early 2026 🐾

Over the past year and into early 2026, I’ve said goodbye to a number of very special dogs I’ve had the privilege of treating.

Each one was deeply loved. Each had their own personality, quirks, and beautiful way of being in the world. And each was supported by owners who showed incredible dedication, patience, and devotion right to the very end.

Grief after losing a dog is profound. It is the loss of a constant companion, a daily presence, and a piece of the heart. It’s something I hear often, and it never becomes “just part of the job.” Every loss matters.

I feel incredibly blessed to have known these dogs, to have supported their comfort and quality of life, and to have witnessed the deep bond between them and their humans.

If you feel comfortable, you’re welcome to comment your dog’s name below in honour of them. ❤️

They mattered. They are remembered. They are loved.

To all the families who have said goodbye — thank you for trusting me with your dog’s care and for loving them so deeply.

Surgery can fix the structure but muscles, fascia and movement still need support.

That's why some dogs stay sore even when the surgery itself was a success.

I use laser therapy because it helps reduce pain, support healing, and make movement feel safer again, especially for seniors

It's gentle, well tolerated, and works best when combined with hands-on care and good home support ❤️

Happy to chat if you're wondering whether it's right for your dog.
