Ranger working those core muscles.
Breakfast time! The dogs got a whole chicken frame for breakfast this morning. The frames weighed 444g, 594g and 600g. Elsa got the smallest and Ranger the largest.

4th Scent work training session for Ranger...video 2 (can only post 1 video at a time on this page and there are 3 from Rangers training session).
4th scent work training session for Ranger. Video 1 of 3.
Ranger has no issues with being confused about the task at hand and is forging ahead bodly and in his typical style being the pushy demanding confident dog he has been raised to be when working. His enthusiasm is making things a little more difficult as he is pushing/moving things around so much its hard to get the clear and calm indication i'm looking for but we're working on it. He had his 2nd training session so far with the target odor away from me but he was far to enthusiastic with his indication and kept knocking it off so I introduced the odor in the tin on the ground which he picked up on fast but in typical fashion kept pushing it all over the place in his enthusiasm. Will continue to work on a slightly more calm indication.
4th Scent work training season for Elsa.
Elsa is picking things up fast but I'm taking things slow to keep the enthusiasm high as given her track record with sports as soon as it gets too hard she gives up so still taking things slow so it's not too hard for her. Had her first introduction to the target odor away from me but it was short lived as like Ranger she has a habbit of trying to bite things and knock it off the top of the bin. Hence why I moved on to the tin on the ground faster than I was going to.
Bit more scent work training this morning. This is the dogs 4th lesson.
Hunter is making slow but steady progress. He just takes a bit more time to figure things out. Introduced the target odor away from me for the first time. He was a little confused at first but eventually picked it up.
Elsa's turn at a lesson in secentwork. Teaching an old dog new tricks....๐
On this page I can only post 1 video at a time so here is the 2nd half of Rangers first scent work lesson. Here he has basically gotten the idea about touching the target with the scent in it so I am working on getting him to hold the indication of the target instead of just touching it and then immediately moving away.
Harbour Haus Ranger, IGP1, FPr2/TR2 AKA Ranger
First scentwork training session with Ranger. He took a bit longer to catch on as he has more obedience training behind him and is therefore more trained to follow my commands instead of doing random things but once he figured out what he was meant to do things progressed quickly and we were able to move from just touching the target to touching holding position on the target.
First scent work lesson with Hunter. Didn't go too badly apart from him loosing interest part the way through and wandering off before I called him back again. The young fellow has a short attention span lol.
